First, I welcome myself to the community

I just read that Apple may buy Vivendi, the parent of Universal records. I don't think Steve Jobs or Al Gore needs a record company on their hands. And does Apple have $6 billion? What do ya'all think?

I think Steve Jobs should remain focussed on the mac product line and the Apple system software. All their trouble started years ago when they got way too diversified and lost focus. Now they are making a come back because they focussed on powerful hardware and a well written OS.

I think Apple must have a lot of money socked away to be able to purchase the largest telecommunications company in France.

Apple gave me a discount on a computer once... sort of.

I was in Boston @ Macworld Expo (before they moved it to New York) and I was waiting to take a cab from the Trade Center to Fenway to meet my brother for a ball game.

As the show just ended (I think it was the year they rolled out the "newton" and it was Mobbed) the guy running the taxi stand was doubleing people up (which I guess you aren't supposed to do).

Anyway, he paired me up with two Apple reps (also headed to a ball game).

When we got there.. they picked up the cab fare.

They said "consider it a discount on your next Mac".

If anyone ever earned that discount.... I did.
I've bought alot of Macs since then...Next time... I think they need to spring for a limo for me.

They need to treat you like a whale in Vegas and comp your next trip to Italy!
