I've got AMD, Intel, Motorola and possibly Cyrix, but I chose the one I've got on my server. =]

I have several Intels, one AMD, and I'm guessing that my old Sun SparcStation20 is a RISC.

Yes (joint development with IBM I believe), it is also a RISC processor, isn't it?

That's a rumor that's been renewed every few years for as long as I can remember. So I'll only believe it when I see hard evidence.
Don't see why Darwin shouldn't work on intel though, so there might be more truth to it now than before.

Actually, the more realistic rumor, which is rumored to be announced next week at Apple's WWDC, is that Apple will be using IBM's 970 PPC chip. The word is that two single processor models will be announced with either immediate, or near immediate availability and later in the Fall its expected to see a few dual-processor boxes released.
By the way, I voted Other (RISC) since I have a PB with a Motorola PPC (G4) processor.

Depending on what is really announced tomorrow in San Francisco, I may be using a computer running an IBM 970 PPC by the end of the week.

What about Opteron, or is that an A64? I'm not up on AMD's processor offerings.

Opteron is a 64 bit processor optimized for servers and business apps. It's out now, but (last time I checked) they only come in prebuilt systems, you can't build your own. Athlon64 is the mainstream 64 bit cpu, due out in August/September, that will for all intents and purposes completely replace AthlonXPs.
