I'd like to start running a blog service -- offering blog accounts to users for free or for a low monthly cost. I'm willing to run this on its own dedicated server as I know it can be pretty resource-intensive.
I don't really have much experience with this sort of thing though, and I'm not sure what type of software to use to run the service. LiveJournal is an obvious choice, and the sourcecode is free, but I know there are other programs like pMachine, cafelog/b2, etc. I want something very "hands-free" for me, where users can sign up for accounts and begin blogging without my help. I'd theoretically like to integrate this with a Threads installation, too -- sign up for the board, get a free blog account.
Does anyone have experience with installing and running a blog service? I'm a whiz with marketing, but I'm often not up to speed on the tech side of things.
