No not currently - that would be a good mod for someone here to create. Not very familiar with RSS stuff myself though.

What content should be provided in this RSS feed? Newest posts? Most recent hacks?

I use FeedDemon at work to keep up on my favorite sites and news. Possibly have it broken down into the categories Alan listed that classic provides then possibly extend it into different feeds by categories or even by forum. new themes, mods, article..... (controled by admin of course). A whole treadsdev channel group could be a nice addon! Hello Allen BTW

i'd like to see a ubb.classic-like content island type deal, with latest posts, recent registrations, etc.
but, i'd absolutely LOVE to see the ability to pull content from a post.
right now, ubb.classic makes it possible to list the most recent posts, but its just the name of the thread, with a link to the post.
instead, i'd like to have the ability to take the actual content of the post, and grab that via an RSS feed.
would threads' database make that any easier?

A friend of mine keeps wanting to set up an RSS feed for my site... maybe I'll let him and see how it turns out. He's done it for his site and a couple others that he manages, but none are Threads sites. Will report back if he decides to do it.

that would be excellent! an RSS post-content feed is something id utilize all the time, in order to tie my boards into the rest of my site

ok. i'm at a much-closer point to making the official jump from classic to threads. if the rss post-content feed thingie becomes a reality (or if its even possible), they've got themselves a customer. thats a deal-making add on, for me

My friend is almost finished coding the RSS for my site, when he's completed it, I'll document it and post it here.

wuhoo - thats fantastic! not only would that convert my boards to threads, having the ability to rip the content of a post to an rss file (and, subsequently, a flash movie) would mean i'd finally get to finish my homepage design!! dancing banana, don't fail me now!

I also have a basic rss feed script working on 6.1 as well as 6.4, so it is definately possible. It probably won't be released though since we didn't know of Zackarys version when we threw it together. Looking forward to seeing the addon!

I started a hack for this also, but I'll stop that and wait to see what you put together.

You can see an example of the version we have here: http://forum.rollspel.nu/rss.phpActually, that's an old version not using CDATA for the content, so if there's any invalid entities in any posts it'll break. And it's in Swedish. =]

Friend and I worked on it last night, we're just ironing out the kinks now before testing further.

Ok, friend contacted me at work... Managed to sneak into the office for a few minutes of computer time, yay me! Anyway... the RSS feed he wrote is working and working well. He's going to document it for my users tonight after checking it in to my CVS, and I'll go through it and document it for you all here. Expect to see this in the beta mods forum sometime this evening, as long as he remembers to check it in so I can upload it.

It always gives me todays threads, which is only one, which doesn't seem correct either. Edit: Ahh, it only list completely new threads, not threads with new posts in them... I would rather have the latter. =] But still, I couldn't get yesterays threads, even when I change to -y it still says Today in the page that is returned.

whoa, these are cool! great work! :-D
do any of these have the ability to just take the content of a post? for example, zackary's most recent post above:
"Works like a champ Josh.
I really think we need to see replies with this too... Getting on that right away. hehe"
thats all i want! not the screen name or the signature or the posting icons or anything else -- just the content!
my reasoning:
one of the forums on my message boards is my weblog. i start a new thread for every month, and reply to the thread up to 3 or 4 times every day. i'd love to be able to have that content featured on my flash-designed homepage!
since i'm the only one that posts there, i wouldn't need the name and sig and stuff with every post. and i wouldn't really need a link built into any of it. all i'm interested in is the actual post content -- to just display, say, the 3 or 4 most recent posts.
es possible?
