According to the email notice I got they suggest upgrading, as their are some security fixes.

XP has a version preinstalled its a MS version but is not the real winzip. Winzip is a program that squeezes files down (compacts, archives,) so they take up less room and can be grouped and sent to someone as one file instead of 2+...

It's a Zipper on the front of your tent to keep the Win out.

Oh I mean it is also necessary for you to have when you want to open files that have been compressed.

As stated, it's a compression program. whenever possible it takes files stored in a zip format and reduces the amount of space they take. This format is widely used when transporting numerous files online etc..
