had this problem many years ago and got to solve it but here i am, back to unix and stumped again.

the icons directory can't be read so all i get for post icons are redX. i cant read any files 777 or not even pasting link into address bar. if i rename the dir to "icon" for example no prob.

anyone know how/where to change the path for the icons directory to some other name?

using UBB 6.3.1.1

You could turn fancyindexing off, it'd show just links and text vs pretty images
