I tried doing a search for this basic mod, but the search feature isn't very helpful when searching for terms like "PM". It would seem to me that someone should have already done a hack that displays a warning image or something along those lines when a users box gets full or near full. What do you say guys? I'd hate to re-invent the wheel.

"pm" is under the 3 character limit; so it should error out. I don't believe there is a mod for an indication of how full your pm box is however; you should reuest it as a feature at ubbcentral, i'm sure quite a few people would second the motion ...

I don't think I even remember my login info for the infopop site. My perl is rusty, but it shouldn't be more than a couple of lines of code to have pm box near full image displayed when a users box is filling up.
While on the topic, why does .classic have a 60 PM limit? Can it be changed?

Classic's pm lmit can be edited through a code edit, i have no clue where it is, and i don't have a working install anymore (in fact, most of us have migrated from classic since it's reached its end of life)

This looks like it: In /cgi-bin/ ubb_pm.cgiAt or near line 248 find: if ($index_count > 59) { &StandardHTML("$vars_wordlets_err{pm_user_max}");
Change the 59 to a higher number.

True, we used to do it like so here (since I always ran over on pm limit ) if ($index_count > 59 && $_[0] ne '00000494') { &StandardHTML("$vars_wordlets_err{pm_user_max}"); }
substitute the '00000494' for whatever number you want to have unlimited pm's

It should be noted that the limit was put in for performance reasons, and ignoring it could slow down your board

Thanks for the replies guys. Some geat info. It looks like displaying a warning image when a PM box gets near full is going to be my best solution. I thought I'd be re-inventing the wheel by doing this hack myself, but surprisingly, it looks like no one has invented this wheel yet. From first glance it looks very easy to do, since .classic already keeps track of the number of PMs send and recieved. Shouldn't be anything more than a if sent+recieved < 57, display
