Team UBBDev, in our effort to work together to help fight cancer, MS, Parkinsons, Alzheimers and other diseases, has risen to the occasion once again! What is Team UBBDev? "Team UBBDev" is our entry in the Folding@home Research Project. Team UBBDev, otherwise known as the Semi-Official UBBâ„¢ Protein Haxxors is made up of fellow UBBDev members who have joined our effort to help search for a cure for many diseases - cancer and alzheimers among others. All are welcome and encouraged to join up! What is the project The Folding@Home project ("FAH") is dedicated to understanding protein folding, the diseases which result from protein misfolding and aggregation, and novel computational ways to develop new drugs in general. How can I participate? You can participate by donating your brain. Not your brain per se, but spare processing power that your computer isn't using. All you need to do is download and install the Folding@Home Agent program. The program runs in the background without disturbing your computer, where it performs computation chemistry. After the program finishes with its sequence of molecules, the results are transmitted to the Folding@Home server, and a new work task is downloaded. The program is secure and will not detect or transmit any other files from your computer. What are Points? Each participating member generates points based on their contribution to the project. Points are awarded based on a calculation using the CPU time used to complete a task along with the power of your machine. By joining Team UBBDev, your results will also be added to our team total. Points are also used for promotional programs, such as contests and for charitable donations. Where can I get the Team UBBDev Haxxors avatar?Your points will also determine your Avatar ranking. When you join the team and generate your first results you will be rewarded with the Blue Avatar. When you have generated 10,000 points for Team UBBDev, you will be rewarded with the Bronze Avatar. When you reach 25,000 points you will receive the Silver Avatar and upon reaching 50,000 points, you will be rewarded with the Gold Avatar. Moving up the ladder... there is Platinum at 100,000 points, Coffee at 250,000, Code Red at 500,000 and Jolt at 750,000. We've recently added a few additional levels for our Power Haxxors.... Emerald at 1 million, Sapphire at 1.5 million, Ruby at 2.5 million and Diamond at 5 million, Uranium at 7.5 million and Plutonium at 10 million. Remember, you have to continue to participate in order to retain your Avatar. When you need your image updated after reaching a new milestone, please leave us a post in the "Team UBBDev Haxxor Image Updates" thread. It'll be sticky at the top of this forum here.. After confirming you've hit a new level your Avatar will be updated! Where can I get more Information? Complete information and instructions can be found here: https://www.ubbdev.com/forum/haxxors.phpor by clicking anyone's haxxor image. Where can I see current stats for our team? If anyone wants to see the team stats go to ou team page. If you have further questions post them here. Please help us by joining in this worthwhile cause. It's easy, it's free, and it's completely painless.

I don't like BOINC, it's no where as fun as the old SETI client... Then again it had a ton of plugins, including ones to process where the units where found to have positive data...
The PS3 seems to be working pretty good... I had to disable processing on my laptop after an issue with peer guardian i was having 20gb files generated with dummy backup data... which is bad considering all i have is a 50gb hd lol...

hehe, I know what you mean - this pc I am working on has 2 16gb HD's in a RAID1 (it's an old server I'm using until we can get actual pc's in) - needless to say it fills up quickly and I can't run F@H on it. The Dell that should be in today has a couple cores, it should run F@H nicely

dunno -- i have the current GPU one for the ATI card running in tandem with the SMP one, so i can get one machine to crank out over 2.5K points per day with it.. i'd suspect the 8800 should work... it will be interesting, when it works.. cuz i have a PC with 2 8800's in it to run the multiple monitors.. maybe 2 GPU clients ? i can only hope can't confirm though..

I wasn't paying attention - I didn't know they had support for multiple processors on windows now - installed to 2 so far (including my dual processor/quad core server - at least now the extra cores will actually be doing something). Will be interesting to see how the 8 cores perform

yah, i've even gone as far as to run a virtual machine and then run FAH on that too..
so i just fire up the beast at night or when i'm not going to be on it and i get 2 SMPs running at the same time..
it cranks out the 1400 point WUs at a very fast pace.. basically 2 WU's per day on average on that machine.
i'm close to the 500,000 mark now...

NVidia Beta Gpu Client is here!!!! this actually outperforms my SMP setup (2100 PPD) -- i'm getting about 4 to 5K PPD from this new client and i can run it along with the SMP.. so one machine is doing about 50 WU's per day and 7K Points amazing new driver and Folding client!!! :rawk:

if it did a WU in < 1hr, that is 2300 PPD.. (at a minimum)
that's more than an SMP can do..

Beta 8 is out and it looks like nvidia is releasing drivers almost daily - I was way behind in version numbers and I just installed the last one 9 days ago Things are running again after updating both

I'm using the nvidia 177.35 drivers - it's flying through the 25000 work unit After 2 hours I'm at 20750 of 25000 I guess it can do them in ~2.5 hours - that's about twice as fast as the older version I was running yesterday
