News Forum - newsdisplay.cgi Posted: 01.04.2000 (obed) Documented: 02.15.2000 (Sir Nikon) Description: This is a modified version of forumdisplay.cgi which changes the overall layout of a certain forum. In cpanel3.cgi, look for: Below that add: Look for: Below that add: Look for: Below that add: Look for: Below that add: Look for: Change that to: Look for: Change that to: Look for: Below that add: In forumdisplay.cgi, look for: Below that add: Now download and upload the newsdisplay.cgi file to your server. Create a forum in the CP as you normally would. Then access the forum settings and change the "Forum Type" letter of the forum you just created to [i]N. That will tell forumdisplay.cgi to forward the user to the newsdisplay.cgi. If you are wondering what the key is for "Forum Type," it goes as follows: F - Standard Forum (forumdisplay.cgi) N - News Forum (newsdisplay.cgi) That's about it... I modified this thing just a bit to look for like the UBB. Example: http://su.ffgamers.net/forums/forum...s+Test&number=13&DaysPrune=10&LastLogin= Tested on: 5.40, 5.42, 5.43a------------------ http://su.ffgamers.net Joy! A hobby that only cost me $170.

The version you installed is the original version that obed created, my version is a version that I just modified to look more like the UBB. If you want, I'll post a text file of the script. ![[Linked Image]](http://ubbcodehacking.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif) ------------------ http://su.ffgamers.net Joy! A hobby that only cost me $170.

I only tested it on 5.40, 5.41, and 5.43a. My guess is that it would still work since I don't think there are that many mods to how forums are indexed and totaled. ------------------ http://su.ffgamers.net Joy! A hobby that only cost me $170.

Sir Nikon, I re-insalled the hack and used the newdisplay.txt file you suggested. Now I get a different display and it still is not correct. Check This OutFONT c> One thing I did notice: You refer to: &ReadParse; foreach $row(@in) { ($Name, $Value) = split ("=", $row); $Name = &decodeURL($Name); $Value = &decodeURL($Value); But I do not have this in my code. I have it in three places with out the &ReadParse; line in the cpanel3.cgi file. Do I paste your addition in all three places. Is this what is wrong? I do not understand. Can you please check it out for me? ------------------ When you sin, you don't fall FROM God's grace, you fall INTO it!!

How odd... I dunno what it could be. You shouldn't edit any portion of newsdisplay.cgi (except maybe the Perl path). It just needs to be uploaded in ASCII to your UBB CGI Dir and CHMODed 755. No part of the UBB should be affecting the actual layout of newsdisplay.cgi, except maybe the header and footer. ------------------ http://su.ffgamers.net Joy! A hobby that only cost me $170.

Well, i did not modify the newsdiplay.cgi file at all except the perl path. I did upload it in ascii and chmod it to 755.
Like I said, I saw 3 instances of what I referred to and so I added your change to all 3.
Other than that, I don't know either. I am running 5.44 right now. Does that make a differnce? Before when I was haveing problems, I was running 5.43d.
