Thanks Dave#,

You are the man. Since I have an international business, this translator.go.com is the coolest thing I have seen yet for my website.

Thank you, thank you, thank you...

I've been using a hidden version of that on my site (www.planetunreal.com/modcentral) for a couple of months. I have it using LWP to get the translated page (just the news), as that way I can still keep the nav bar and headers of my page in English. The next version of this hack should be to translate particular posts from language to language.
I don't have international boards, so this is no use to me. However, it may be critical if a thread turns bi-lingual. An easy way to do it would be to copy the Edit sub to "Translate" and take out the text areas, then add the form on that page. Pretty it up and you should be all set.

Great hack Dave!

Could this be incorporated to be used not only in the threads, but for the forum summaries and main forum page?

I love it so far, but if you could add those 2 extra things, it would be outrageous!

It works in the forum summary but you have to go to a thread then choose the language. Then you can go to those places with that language.

Hi- Glad you all like:

There are only the languages specified because that is all go com provide: Go com is cool because they let you translate on the fly unlike babelfish which has a frustrating middle screen-Go does not restrict by reffere! however I think it offers dutch which may be of use to our dutch friends http://babelfish.altavista.com

More hacks to come- watch out

Just tried that Dave, no go. It takes you to the translate site with no translation.

I fixed Ultimate.cgi.

This:

value="$NonCGIURL/$ForumIs/HTML/$ThreadNumber.html" >

Should read:

value="$CGIURL/Ultimate.cgi" >

I have NO clues as to fix forumdisplay.cgi

If Dave says it works, i am sure it does. The only bad thing about this is that it translates HTMl as well

Dave:

Great hack as usual. The only problem that I had with this is that when I leave the page that has been translated to go to another page I find that the cookie is screwed up. Then when I reset the preferences part of it is in English and part in the last language that I chose as well as the rest of the board.

I really like this hack. Any ideas what could be going on?

In V5.45c, can anyone point me to the place in "forumdisplay.cgi" where I can find the change that "NBAustin" noted above? I can't seem to find the exact place in this new version.

Thanks...
