Hi, I installed cal's hack and when I push the button "New Topic" I get a blank page with this text on top..
Error including required files: Can't find string terminator "THIS5" anywhere before EOF at C:Xitamicgi-bin/ubb_library2.pl line 2118. Make sure these files exist, permissions are set properly, and paths are set correctly.

I gave this hack a try on a secondary test copy of my BB, and it seemed to go off without a hitch the very first time. (5.45b)

*but* (there's always a but, heh)

All my PREVIOUS message icons, bring up an incomplete placeholder only. When I post a message and when I reply to a message, it creates the new icons AND displays them perfectly, but all other from previous posts are blank and missing... Any ideas oh great one?

Nope, this isn't what you're looking for.

To find most hacks, do a search in the beta/finished forums, and also check the database... That should help you...

just so you all know.

I've seen that it works with the ubb code buttons installed

the blank gif for old images is gonna happen. the best you can do is have the blanks auto set to your default icon with something like this stuffed into ubb_libray2.pl

unless (-e "$NonCGIPath/icons/$IconNumber.gif") {
$IconNumber = "$DefaultIcon";
}

the var names are incorrect here, you'll have to change them to the ones used in this hack. this code needs to be where ubb_libray2 defines the msgicon


the other thing. this hack is bad in netscape. netscape uses won't be able to post messages.

the fix

the dynamicly created img needs to be before the

tag but the selesct dropdown needs to be inside the tag. thats why mine is moved to the top of the page. thats also why my avatar hack has the dropdown at the top of the page.

if you do this, it will work in both browsers and with the ubb code buttons

Crikey! I knew that installed too easy, Mutt.. I will need to test in Netscape too (as I should have). It does work well with your ubb buttons in IE.

I have too much free time. I've fixed the hack so that it now shows the default icon for old posts and is netscape compatible. Many thanks to Mutt for explaining the NS fix.

Hey cal, u didn't add my icons to UBB CHH icons page at one37.

...and you are credited, but i've changed it quite a bit to allow NetScape compability.

Cal, how do you replace the dropdown menu, with a dropdown menu with a regular style. (like all the dropdown menus)

Opps!. In ubb_library2.pl find
delete it.

It was some of Kululus' code that I didn't clean up. I've updated the hack to reflect this.

I'm having a bad problem with this hack.. For some reason it won't show new icons.. but it shows the 'standard fall back' one I selected fine.. Please have a look.. Choose a forum, and you'll see incomplete placeholders.. My board just got extremely busy traffic, and would like to fix this ASAP. Perhaps I will offer a small reward..

Which is the correct one to use, PulldownIcons.zip or PulldownIcons2.zip? Icons2.zip *appears* to be older in the file listing, so I'm curious
