If you've read this before, it has been updated!

First there was ICQ Hack, then AIM Hack, now here it is...the Y!Mess Hack. Got a Yahoo Messenger account? Here's the linker that will show if the person is signed on with Y! Messenger. If they are online, when you click the button it opens a new window and brings you to the Java version of Y! Messenger.

The Y!Mess Hack 1.0 (03/17/2000)
-------------------
Basically, I just made a copy of most of Gokuchu's AIM fields hack and just changed a
few lines that call Y! Messenger to see if the person is online.

Here's the script:
http://www.thefew.com/download/y-mess_hack.txt

I figured out how to make the icon smaller. You actually have 3 choices which I'll show you in a minute.

If you haven't downloaded the script already then get it above. Follow the installation. Before you save and close the last file (ubb_library2.pl) find this line:

Send a message to $ThisYID

For those that already installed it, look for the above line with =g&t=2"

The =g&t=1" is the key to the icon size. Change the 1 to either a 0 or a 2. Here are the icons for each number:

0 =

1 =

2 =

You don't have to copy the icons to your server. They are pulled from Yahoo!

Here it is in action:
http://www.thefew.com/ubb/Forum18/HTML/000001.html

Hope ya'll like this hack!

Here's a challenge for the gurus...

Write a hack which combines all 3 (AIM,ICQ,Y!) to gave a single status as to wether someone is online or not.

I'll look into it. The script would have to receive and decode the images (difficult) before building it's own image and outputting that. It's quite possible though.

It's a nice hack, but the icons are too big. I hope cal will create some new icons. He's the icons expert. [Linked Image]

First off, you can't change the icons. The 3 sets of icons in the first message of this thread are the only ones to choose from. They are pulled directly from Yahoo! I've seen some good Y! icons that would be great but you just can't replace it [Linked Image]

Second, what is wrong with the mini smiley (option 0) or mini smiley with online/offline text (option 1)? I actually use both...option 1 for the standard message posts and option 0 for my memberlist listing.
Option 0 fits nicely into small areas...check out my member list at http://www.thefew.com/cgi-bin/ubb/memberlist.cgi

I'm working on a second version that will open the java based Y!Messenger into a window. From what I understand you don't have to have the full version installed on your machine like AIM.

Anyway, if you have any questions please let me know.

AJ

Here's how you get a decent icon (you can do the same with ICQ). Just choose icon=0, then put this image to the right of it (still within the tag):

And if you want to make the ICQ link look nice:

cal thats a great idea

anyway i cam e to post this script. i found it awhile back and it seems that the site is no longer around. what it does is reads you status form icq and then prints any img you want.

i thought if you really wanted a combine online offline this would work great.

just add some code to read y! and then you could have it print the online. shame you can't get the online status from aim

here it is
Code
code:

Mutt - why not replace that with this. It will redirect to an image:
Code
code:

You could easily modify this to work for AIM and Y! aswell - it just examines the image data returned from the mirabilis server.

I am developing a rub off of this... It has the " http://www.yahoo.com/favicon.ico with the ".

In a window pops up the user's user name, and if they are online or not. Anyone want it?
