The long awaited fix. When user info and permissions gets submitted, it clears. I wonder why? It is printing a null variable, not the field in which the data is held, clearing the profile information. Two possible fixes:

1) Remove the null variable
2) Add in the null variable

To make things easy, we will do the first.

Well I got the darn thing to work last month. I forgot a print membership line in ubbmisc.cgi. The hack works fine, only if you install it correctly.

Ok. I have a heavily modified version that has Allhacks, amoungst others installed. I have no problem installing the script. But when I get the text put in the box and post a msg, it then pops up with the AIM. I have used the next highest number which is 19 instead of 15.

I am at a loss. smirk

I don't have the version I am working on public as of yet since I am wanting to have it looking good first. So no link to give you to look at.

OK, good to see someone's still working on this hack [Linked Image]

I got some info, a revelation if you will.

While installing a 5.47C UBB I, the first hack I added was this custom user hack. As expected, through the control panel, I couldn't see the user text...thus, if I submitted a change, all users on that page would have their user text erased [Linked Image] What I learned was, if I clicked "Veiw all registered users" miraculously, the user text for anyone who had it would show up in the control panel [Linked Image] If I asked the control panel for any form of sorting of users to display, no utext.

My revelation (hey, it was to me[Linked Image]) is that if there is no searching of the profiles done, just a listing, it works. If they are searched for any variable and then listed, no utext.

I have no idea what this means, but I'm sure you guys might get some ideas. If ya do, lemme know!!

Hi!

Another bug in this hack is that it allows swear words such as the f word even though the script specifies for to Censor Check. I even tested it out here; it even showed up.

Can anyone help?

I've tried fixing the line the print lines to print MEMBERSHIP ($usertextn"); but to no avail.

Any help on this would be appreciated!

I manage to apply a 'hotfix', that is swear words (and HTML) will be saved into the member file but not displayed in threads. Will anyone be interested in this?

Okay.

In ubb_library2.pl, look for the line

Quote
quote:
Under it, add

Quote
quote:
where the number 17 should be replaced by the number where your Custom Title is stored in each member's profile. Also the & lt and the & gt must be pushed together to get rid of the space.

LMK if you have any problems with this hack.

Is there a way to only allow moderators/admins use HTML? I've tried adding

Code
code:

above

Code
code:

But it didn't work, anyone got a fix for this?

Try this:

Code
code:

My original hotfix stripped all html and all censor words; now this should only be applied to people who are NOT admin and NOT mods.

Logically it should have. AIM me the source you've pasted in. Perhaps I can spot an error. Did you remember to put change the profile number and push the letters together?

Yea sure did, I did everything I could think of.

I posted once with a test name and my admin name. Both came output as regular HTML code.

Code
code:

I see the problem why now $Status refers to something else here; I'll create a fix and issue it here.

Ok, I think I've gotten the fix down pat now.

In ubbmisc.cgi (one that had been originally modified with the instructions provided in the original hack), look for:

Code
code:

Underneath, put

Code
code:

Look for:

Code
code:

Underneath, put

Code
code:

Look for:

Code
code:

Replace it with:

Code
code:

This should be done TWICE.

Now in ubb_library2.pl (as hacked in the original hack)

Find:

Code
code:

Underneath, place:

Code
code:

Make sure you have changed 17 to the appropriate number and pust the & and the lt & gt together in ALL the code snippets (there are 3).

NOW, it should work! Please remember to retype in your own custom user text (and save)as the orginal hack had it set to replace the < and > with the apropriate HTML code.

LMK how this goes!

Put simply (without a technical explanation), after you apply this hack, you'll need to go to your profile, and re-type your Custom User Text (for some people, not for others). A minor annoynace at best.

Glad to be of service!

I've posted my cpanel4.cgi fix onto the Beta Forum for testing. Please provide feedback.
