We are moving the code buttons back into the "finished" forum, as they are about as developed as they are gonna get, + I don't see any real bugs left. database file Please follow all the instructions, including setting up your smilies in your control panel after installation. Good luck...

SSI? No way, you don't need SSI at all. Just install and it SHOULD work. Setup your smilies because I'm hearing that is causing the problems. ------------------

Well got a small white screen problem.. I installed the hack to the directions and everything works fine, posting and replying, everything except editing. I even went back to my backup postings.cgi and rehacked it all except the Edit portions and still doesn't work, any ideas?

Great hack, guys. My question is this:
What do I change to have the starting mode be "off"? I don't mean just have the "off" radio button checked, but rather to not show the buttons at all, unless someone chooses "help", "prompt", "inline" or "advanced".
I've poked around in both ubb_code_buttons.pl and postings.cgi and I don't see anything obvious, except an outdated section regarding cookies and preferences. Can someone shoot me in the right direction real quick and save me some time?
Thanks much!

The IE code and NS code in ubb_code_buttons.pl are slightly different. ------------------

Good question Matthew, that would make postings.cgi a little cleaner. The setting would be in the code_buttons.pl file, where you find a CHECKED or something around the "basic" or "Prompt" (do a search for the exact word). BVA, NS and IE have always handled javascript differently... when developing additions to the code, we developed for the most popular browser and then moved it to work in Netscape if possible. Netscape browsers cannot handle the sound addition, and it really should be removed from the code completely. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

I agree, the sound button is the first thing I took out and should probably just be removed. There is some other hack that used a third party to store sound and would not autoplay (which caused the problem). I can't remember the name but I'll search the forums for it later. The javascript code for the buttons are now cross browser (ver 4+)compliant but the code needs to be cleaned up and the conditions set so that they show up the same way except in these browsers. Overlooked that at the time... If I get time I'll do it but MasterMind will probably have it done by the time I hit submit.... ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif) ------------------ Jeremiah FreakScene - The Dinosaur Jr Audio/Visual Archive My UBB In ( ((((((((((((((STEREO))))))))))))) ) ) Where Available

Jeremiah... I would appreciate it it you have time to look at it... credit will be given. I imagine, just take the sound out as it really creates havoc on the forums for NS... ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

this has to be a screwup on my part, but when I post, it looks like everyting is good, but when I get to forumdisplay, it doesn't show any posts at all. In ultimate.cgi it says 9 posts, but when you enter they are gone.
I uploaded the ubb code buttons that came with the file, and redid postings.cgi and it still did the same thing

Did you check if you set to "Show Topics from..." before the dates of the topics? Put it to Show All Topics to see if that fixes your problem. ------------------

I'm pretty certain forumdisplay.cgi is not touched when installing CB5.5, I'm guessing it's one of the ubb library files. ------------------
