Is there a way to see which user vote for which option?

I can see that from VIEW COMMENTS only those who type in comments will be shown. Or maybe i could just put a DEFAULT dash - in the comments so that all the vote will be submitted with a comment.

Hi, I tried to install this on a UBB that i am apart of, and at first things didnt work(i got the "cant find file" error), but i fixed that. So, then I tried to open the admin.cgi file in my browser. When i did this, nothing appeared on the screen. i tried it many times, and no success. i have all the permissions set to what it said in the install, but nothing works.

can anyone help me?

I'm on a Win 2K box and I have that same...

"The members.cgi file could not be opened because No such file or directory." problem after trying to create a poll.

The file DOES exist in the data directory!

What's the fix?

Could having flock set as "yes" be causing the problem under Win 2K?

Sorry, I haven't been following this thread for a while now. This script, you are finding out, is very buggy, more so on NT sytems, not sure why. I could not get it to work on WIN2K at all... Andy admitted that it was buggy and dropped development on it.

I'll look through this thread and add the bug fixes that were found, but I can't promise it will be be able to work yet still...

Allen, Thanks man... I really appreciate it. No rush on this either... just something that I cant seem to figure out and integrating it into Ultimate I think is a really cool feature.

Again thanks...

I'm trying to implement UBBPoll also. I've got it working and even working with server side included on my front page page. Ok actually I had to take it back off because of the bad HTML formatting on the output.

Have you noticed the same thing? Have you gone through the script and fixed them? I was thinking about just adding some
's after the serverside include to fix the HTML output but that seems like adding a bandaid to slop to me.

It also seems that the tiny links after the Index listing aren't working. They want to look into the root directory of the web instead of the correct UBBPoll directory for the UBBPoll cgi's. I haven't decided whether I'm going to just throw my UBB cgi's into the root to make it all compatible or edit all the HREF's to include the UBBPoll URL variable. If you look in your poll.cgi and checkout the HREF's they all start
BTW, I mean absolutely NO disrespect to the author of this program. I just wish someone would go the extra yard and fine tune this script.

Your thoughts and ideas are appreciated.

The guy who made this made a BIG ERROR.... errrr, and never checked up to fix it..

Anyways, put all the addons directly in your cgi-directory.. Make a new directory poll, CHMOD 777 but don't upload anything in it.. put all addons in cgi-directory... Mine works great, you can even link from Ultimate to a "OPEN POLLS" screen and have 6 to 30 active polls... if ya wanna see for ya self

Here are the problems I am now having...

-- I can do everthing in the admin screen with the exception of opening up the damn polls that I create!! I can sure as hell go ahead and delete them and they show up in the pull down if I wanna delete them!

-- The HTML output is not working for me... anyone have any ideas?? I am running WIN2K and I have just about go tthis thing figured out... these last two items are killin me!!

The issue with the HTML output is that there is none... I mean NOTHING! What the heck??!!

Anyone out there with ideas??!! Please help!

It will have to be a complete rewrite for v6, most likely... mainly because it has quite a few problems in its present form, for sure...

BB, sounds like permissions problems... you'll get empty html in IE if it can't execute...

Hi Allen... Naw... I am running it on NT and all subdirectories have inherited permissions.

I sorta gave up on this but if anyone has run across the problem of being able to create the poll, delete the poll, edit the poll, basically everything... but when I try to OPEN the poll... it reports that htere are no polls to open... but I go to the data dir and there it sits.

https://ubbdev.com/polls/poll.cgi

I followed Errol's directions on page 3 to get it to set up the first time and the above bugfix for action=Index instead of action=Front.

It works with v5.x and should be able to work with v6 after some work. Getting it to SSI with correct html might take a little more work.

I'll look at it tomorrow night for those who need it redocumented. If someone has it SSI'd somewhere, I'd like to look at the html output to see where the errors are.

Hi all,

I wrote down a workaround for the installation unter Windows NT Servers.

This is the way I got the UBB Poll Hack 2.1b
work under my internal Windows NT 4 Server.

After fighting with this mod for some time, I finally stumbled over this thread.

I just want to state that Onkel_Tom's documentation worked perfectly for me on Win2k Advanced Server. I still need to try to integrate it into my UBB, but I'm confident that since the stand alone poll is working, this next step should be relatively painless. wink

Just so people know what problem I was having, it was the same as Errol, in that I couldn't actually get the Setup portion of the Admin script to run. It just popped straight through to the admin screens.

Thanks again for all the hard work everyone.

Chris

Hi,
Is it a security Problem to set the UBBPoll Path and URL locations in the cpanel2.cgi ?

I just added this functions on my internal Webserver for testing but do not want to up it to my working internet version.

Does somebody know more about the quiet unconfortable configuration of this hack ?
Why ?

I think the problem is the memberlist file located in the ubbpoll dir, isn't it ?

There shouldn't be any security problems with setting that in cpanel2.cgi, that would be a great idea.

My apologies.

I didn't mean to be a pain, but I've noticed many threads/questions go unanswered for days or more.

I understand people have lives away from here, but the response time from Mods/Admins has drastically fallen off here lately.

I've a little problem to get the Ubb absolute path within the functions.pl !
I'm not a perl crack ...
Perhaps you could have a look in this code and figure it out ?

okay, download the new Hack here:
English version
German version

now it's time for my bed ...

Everytime I click VOTE, i get this error;

Can't open perl script "D:webspace.........unitedconservatives.comwwwcgi-binUbbpollpoll.cgi": No such file or directory

My cgi-bin is named ubbcgi, not cgi-bin. I've checked my paths and the scripts for any instances where "cgi-bin' would be put in place of my "ubbcgi", and it keeps on giving me this error since it insists on inserting CGI-BIN instead of UBBCGI.

Why is this happening?

the only cgi-bin path which is hardcoded ist in cpanel2.cgi, but only if you let the field for pull_url blank while doing the general variables !

pls. Check funktions.pl, UltPoll.setup, Ultbb.setup, Ultimate.cgi an cpanel2.cgi
search for "cgi-bin".

Is it NT or Unix ?

OK...

Overlooked one thing and got it working.

NOW...why don't the poll percentages add up to 100%? It only computes 99%.

Fix anyone?

I thinks its a fantastic script and thanks to Onkel Tom for his excellent instructions. I have a few questions about the script?

1. In the Add User section of the admin.cgi script there is an option for Moderator/Administrator (permission). How does this relate to UBB user permissions? Whats the difference if its different etc?

2. I haven't installed the CP extensions but just the basic version with a few modifications. If I did make the CP changes in cpanel2.cgi what would they do?

3. I seem to be having problems adding it to Ultimate it CGI. This is the coding I have got.......Is it 100% correct?

#POLL ADD
push(@INC,'/i/CHANGED THIS PATH/TO/THE RIGHT ONEl');
#push(@INC,$poll_path); # will only work with cp-extensions !
require 'UBBPoll.pl';
ubb_poll();
#END POLL ADD

Many Thanks

Im still having the "The members.cgi file could not be opened because No such file or directory." I'm running Win2k. I've followed every step in Install_NT.txt from download UbbPoll21b_eng.zip which seems to include every fix posted in this forum. But I get that error right after initial path setup from http://.../admin.cgi. Anyone with any suggestions for me? please feel free to email: thomasj@telocity.com
