I had same promlem like yours, when i removed the PM notification with popup it worked days ago.

Allen I do have Who's online 2.1b installed. There was an enhancement to it once (which later became IM) which mentined a drones.cgi. I didn't have that file so I never installed the 1.0 and went straight to IM2.0.
The reason I feel pretty sure about the editing done right is I can pretty much now take sections of the hack and seach the whole piece in cutehtml (in UBB file) and it finds it all (word to word) at the right place.
Since the first time I installed it I had goofed only once and that was I mixed up the viewUBBIM&antiAOL=$random" with the other similar line. But you never know its not that I don't do it twice

I will check the Who's online code again to see if I am missing anything there as I have noticed the Who's online doesn't work perfect. I mean sometimes (hmm... many times)even after I post it still shows me as a Guest. But if I login (using the login hack) I am always listed.

If I can't find anything there I will give it a rest for now before I go completely insane.............

yeah, UBB IM does not support UBBs with PM notification hacks..

heya allen. i tried uploading the clean versions of those files with no luck. then, i uploaded clean versions of ALL pm-related files, with even less luck (didnt even get the "you have a new pm" message).

... i think this is justa hack my boards'll havta do without.

FIND:
require "ubb_library.pl";
require "ubb_library2.pl";

Then, ADD:
require "private.cfg";

In forumdisplay.cgi

FIND:
require "ubb_library.pl";

Then, ADD:
require "private.cfg";

Hello Franky, you are the Santa!, The answer was there from DT, SPAWN, Allen and others but I wasn't seeing it untill you posted. My mistake!!!!!!!

Yes you have to take the PM notification off for it to work but the first change in PM notification is:
require "private.cfg";
and when I was taking the PM notification hack off I was also taking this line off and that had to be there for IM to work.

This hack has been a never ending experiance .
Thanks to all your suggestions I got the IM to pop up but now I have another problem that was working yesterday.
In posts it shows the Offline gif always. On the post and on the popup. Eventhough the user is listed Online in Who's online. This was working till yesterday and the main thing I have done is taken the PM notification off.
The IM's are getting through and working fine its just that everyone is shown Offline all the time in the posts but in Who's online they are listed.
My undrstanding was it was taking the info from online.cgi like who's line and same users should be shown online at both places but obviously not!!!!

It was litle bit complicated than i thought but i got it working

EDIT: I have to tell what it does aint i This will close the popups after sending, deleting and posting without premission poups after 3 seconds (you can change this ofcourse)

Here is the whole code you have to change it in privatesend and in private delete.

In privatesend.cgi
Find:

And replace with:

Again in privatsend find:

And replace with:

In privatedelete.cgi find:

And replace with:

By defult goes the window in 3 secons away but if you want to change that just change this to time you want closeTime+=3
And if you want to add script without coppying completly here but in peaces dont forget to add onLoad="startTime();" in the body tags.

I apologize if you have already answered this, but when do you see this "IM" hack ready for the "Finished Mods" forum, anytime soon? I noticed you've released it to the database, but I've also seen many sad icons and coding through out this topic which leads me to believe it may not have life yet beyond this forum. Thanks

I believe it is just about ready for the finished forum... tho there may be a couple more bugs to work out...

Most of the people having problems installing this are missing some fairly simple things... it usually isn't a problem with the script itself...

um... after you install the hack... uh... make sure you, uh... er...

look in private.cfg for:
$instantmsg = "no";

and change "no" to "yes"

i've, uh... i've heard that some other people ...yeah... OTHER people didnt do that. ...yeah...

Been through all over the code but can't single out the problem.
The IM's are working fine and the PM's are working fine. But in threads users are always shown offline. In who's online page they are shown online. You can send IM and it pops up for the users who are online but in threads always offline.gif is shown.

Any thoughts??

Iam getting an error with this hack..
first is in the forumdisplay.cgi when put this:
in the first line i get the error, but if i put if ($UserName eq "pituco") {
it doesn't give me the error...
the other error is when i recive the instant mensage.. i recive it only in the private mensage, it don't open an windows with the mensage... can someone help me?
I am using the ubb 5.46 ....

to fix the second error, you might need to include

require "private.cfg";

in forumdisplay.cgi and postings.cgi - that worked on a site I installed these on Friday...

Use any sound wav of your choice. I use the classic AOL "You've Got Mail"

the file is privateview.cgi, and mine is from the waterboy. Rob Schenider says, "OH NO WE SUCK AGAIN!". Well I was thinking ICQ has "UH OH", so i stole the oh no and used it as the sound it works pretty good.

i've added it to ultimate.cgi simply add the routine from forumdisplay.cgi


(i had to use an image instead of the body tag cos it was conflicting with my page preloads, so i just made an image 1x1 so its basically invis)

then add


to the ForumsBottomHTML sub routine

As for indevidual threads i recon if u could embed an in each thread and make the server parse them. You could probs write a custom script to check for ims, and show the popup.


thats a first go at the imcheck.cgi taken straight from Ultimate.cgi and the im javascript. Probs needs a bit of work...

Ok popup works in the threads to if you have SSI with ST8's imcheck.

in ubb_library2.pl I put this after last link in reglink in my case is that search option


And it worked like charm.

But i thought i put it in the footer or header at CP, it was no succes you have to put in the cgi files you want to popup IM messages be carrefull dont put it in wrong place.

your server must be set up to parse standard html files, usually u need the extension .shtml to parse includes. I'll ave to ave a play with htaccess see if i can get it workin

I didn't place it in the threads since I've already got it in forumdisplay. Now it should popup with audio notification while viewing the main page (ultimate) and thread listings (forumdisplay)..this should suffice!
