First off, sorry I've been in lurk mode for a while.. I've added EveryAuction 1.5 to my board and hackit it use UBB user information (user names and passwords) and UBB Styles.file. If anyone is interested in the hacked script, post a message and I'll make it available. CW

Welcome back Code Warrior (even though we've never talked before ![[Linked Image]](http://ubbcodehacking.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif) ) I have been thinking about doing something like this, more so for posting jobs/resumes. I took a look at EveryAuction and it looks really nice. I would love to see how you integrated the two of them, if it isn't too much to post the code. Thanks, -Chris ------------------ Chris Schreiber [email protected] Fast 4GL Systems, Inc. UBB: http://www.progresstalk.com/

There was really no modifications to UBB (except for me adding a link to the script from UBB's quick-menu). EveryAuction is a freeware script. If you want to see what I did to the script, compare the latest version from thier site with the one I modified . I installed the script into $CGIPath/auction/ and set it to chmod 755. You're milage will vary. There are still some bugs I'm sure of it. I've not seen any in my testing yet. To see what I've done, visit my board at http://www.chainmaille.prohosting.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi and click the link to auction on the quick menu on the upper-right hand corner (where the profile, preferences, etc are). Not sure about alot of hacks coming. I plan on visiting regularly just to see what's going on and to comment. I don't intend on implementing many more hacks on my UBB as it might upset the user base. I might setup another UBB or work on my own message board from scratch. I don't know yet. We'll see. ![[Linked Image]](http://ubbcodehacking.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif) CW

Code Warrior, so basically all you did was add the 'requires' lines and changes the customizable variables to match UBB variable names? I can't see anything altered in the main code. Is that right? Either way it's a real nifty bit of thinking there, excellent work it could come in very useful for some sites. ![[Linked Image]](http://ubbcodehacking.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif)

I altered all the user name / password code to get this info from UBB rather than EveryAuction's files for verification/validation. Add cookie code to fill in the user name / password fields using the UBB cookie on all screens. Incorporates the Styles.file for look/feel. Uses alot of variables in the UltBB.setup, etc etc. I also fixed bugs in the existing script (broken tables and font tags) and reformatted the header section to look more like my UBB and restructed tables so they don't look like crap (IMHO). Best thing to do would be try to run the script from a fresh install to become familiar with it.

Hello Codewarrior, Great hack! I have an older version 1.01 and was hoping that you could help me insert your code into my current everyauction script. Can you please give me instructions on where you made the changes in 1.5 so that I can sift through 1.01 and make the same changes? I would be very grateful. ![[Linked Image]](http://216.10.1.50/ubb/smile.gif) ------------------ James L. Murray VirtueTech, Inc. EMAIL: info@virtuetech.com WWW: http://www.virtuetech.com

Well, this is definetely a great idea...so I took it a bit further! Code Warrior has done a great job with the Username/Password addition. I added the total UBB look and feel for seemless integration with your UBB! It will use all your Table/Text properties (Size, bordercolor, etc) and colors. I also added a "HOT" hack and some other things as well. Please play around with it and see if there are any bugs. Add items, bid, etc. I will delete all postings in about a week to really start the auctions. I haven't added links to it from my UBB yet, but you can see it in action at: http://www.thefew.com/cgi-bin/auction.pl You can download it at: http://www.thefew.com/download/auction.zip If anyone can help by adding a few things to this hack: - Compare closing time to current time and change the font color to red for the times that are within X hours of closing. - A cleanup script that will delete closed items after X days. - Any ideas to add stuff! AJ

What happens when you click the link above? I just clicked it and got there fine. For the first 3 minutes I had it posted it was incorrect but I edited the message to fix it. If you are still having problems, type it in manually. It is the correct link: http://www.thefew.com/cgi-bin/auction.pl

the $BBEmail isn't appearin when you get the password wrong. For those who use NT change # $config{'mailhost'} = 'localhost'; to # $config{'mailhost'} = '$EmailServer'; even though localhost would probably work. ------------------ http://forums.pp-network.com http://www.pp-network.com

Make the email server part if ($EmailServer eq "") { $config{'mailprog'} = '$SendMailLocation -t'; } else { $config{'mailhost'} = '$EmailServer'; } it means less updating I also have a control pannel for adding more categories but it involves editing the cpannel files so, if you want it just post here. also found refrences to http://www.chainmaille.prohosting.com/cgi-bin/Ultimate.cgi?action=agree i just changed to $CGIURL/Ultimate.cgi?action=agree ------------------ http://forums.pp-network.com http://www.pp-network.com This message has been edited by PP-N on December 25, 2000 at 08:42 AM

Thanks again PP-N, demo and text file are re-done with your bug fixes... it is odd no-one found those chainmaille references before now... ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif) If you'd like, I can add those instructions for the cp changes to the download, maybe in a seperate file (along with configuration instructions) the 90kb file is pretty huge right now... we could remove a lot of the instructions in there and trim 15kb or so... ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif) I am not sure what else might be needed here. If someone sees a need in it, I can add it and post the differences... I have been looking at adding the payment/ shipping modication to it. I may do that next. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

That must have been written into the "closed auction email" modification I had added the other day. Both references were changed to the admin email, tho that may not be what people want... Configuration for admin email address added back in as well... it got lost when I was redoing the email function last night... File updated... thanks PP-N. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com
