Ok, seems the cgi file I was using to send the file died due to server failure (ugh). Allen, I made a few changes, if you would upload them to the DB. http://www.h-realms.com/codebuttons4.zip ------------------ Modification Developer of the Ultimate Bulletin Board Due to time limitation, I do not offer support Via. Made some cosmetic changes to the AFP popup: This will remove the ugly white spaces in the popup and members cannot resize it either because you don't need to. In ubb_code_buttons.pl Find: Replace that with: Find: Remove all of the 'break tags including $BannerCode. BTW why in the world was the variable $BannerCode in there? I couldn't find any instances of it in the UBB files. ------------------ This message has been edited by GoTorankusuKu on December 28, 2000 at 10:14 PM

Good question... seems like legacy code, since it has went through so many hands.. a few pieces of it have been removed in the last week that had no function. Anyways, I have installed it here, looks good... ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif) I'll update the files and upload them to the database.. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

Hehehe...OOPS! The cosmetic above actually caused something worse. I forgot about the color chart. When you click on the color.gif, the chart expands which would then cover the buttons. But calm down, I always have a fix for my problems In ubb_code_buttons.pl Find: Replace that with: Find: Remove that line Find: Remove that line That's it, now it's a bit different now. The color button has been removed and now the color chart automatically loads with the popup (not necessary to click on color button anymore). Sorry about that guys, I should've went through it well. ------------------

The "Default UBB Code Buttons Mode: the default mode setting when you post a message" in the Forum Preferences does not work!! The Buttons-Value in the Cookie is saved, but will not be read correctly again. The Bug is in the Forum, too. The Mode is every time on "prompt" when I try to post a new message or answer to another topic...

For those having problems with the dreaded "white page" when trying to make a post, try installing without the "smilie" part, then download the "cp smile add-on" script and install it seperately. It worked for me ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I have not seen that error Sammie, and I have installed it many times... you might want to recheck your installation. UG, I copied those instructions word for word down the line... I wrote both of them, tell me if I missed something... ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

Hmm? But the bug is here, too. I have now found the error. Maybe a bug in the german browser?!? In ubb_code_buttons.pl: and the second bug in ubbmisc.cgi seems not work in my browsers (IE 5.5 SP1 / NS 4.7) This message has been edited by Sammie on December 29, 2000 at 11:45 AM

Thanks Sammie... I'll look into adding this today and test it here... if it doesn't mess the script up and works for you, we'll make the adjustments in the files. It's something I never notice because I don't mess with those preference settings... ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

Anyone who has problems with this and a blankpage trying to post, please double check that you finished setting up your smilies in your general settings (paths to smilies folder) and your smilies admin. That has been the problem with several others. I will make it more prominent in the instructions. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

I'm having problems submitting the smilies. When I added my smilies in the control panel and click on the submit button and open my page in a new window, the original message icons remains there and the new ones didn't show up....I had like 20 new ones but only the old ones were there. Any idea?

I've set up the absolute path in the general settings already and in the smilies settings, i just enter the name of each smilies since the path is already set; somehow the icons still doesn't show up. When I click on the view current icons button, I get a runtime error. And yes, the Members folder was set to 777.
Thanks for any help.

Thanks for the hack! GREAT!
However, even since I installed this hack, sometimes the poster msg just shows "1" instead of the original words when replying. Do you know why?

I have install code buttons 5.5 twice and can't get proof that it is installed besides the smilies in cp are operational. In posting and preferences there isn't any indication that i have installed this mod nor that i have screwed up anywhere. It is like i never installed it. What am I missing?
UBB version 5.47d PM not installed yet help please

Hi, great Mod, thank you. 2 Questions: In ubb_code_buttons.pl I found: But I've no upload2.cgi ?? It was not in the distribution package ! 2. When uploading a image to the ubb and place them in a PM (v.3.8) the image is not shown. I see the correct code IMG (in brackets) and filename with absolute locasion but the image themselve is not shown !. Any idea ???? ------------------ ----------------------- thanks in advance and happy coding ... Tyran.. that was done a few days ago, just hasn't made it to the download files yet. I have been working on them the past couple of hours, adding in all the bug fixes from here... I added the fix for the sub ubbcode, the typo in the name for the image_upload file (how in the world did it ever work like that?) and am working on Sammie's cookie fix for the preferences. I have finally got it to save your preferences on here... yippeee!!! check it out on here in your preferences and see that it finally works. Big whoop... in fixing that, I realized that your settings in preferences mean absolutely nothing, since the "mode"s in ubb_code_button.pl changed a long time ago, not taking into acct the settings in preferences... To simplify the installation somewhat, I think we should delete the preference additions for ubbmisc.cgi and just set a default in the code_button.pl file that can changed when they click on one of the "mode" buttons. Setting it to default to "inline" or "prompt" would prolly be the best choice. Any other opinions? ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

So I didn't have normally any probelms with posting. But when I try to post a text over 1000 lines I only get a blankpage, and not the new topic. But when I post a shorter text , I have no troubles with posting. Is it possible that there is a bug in the posting.cgi? Or line protection or something like that? Cause I get it when I've installed the new codebutton hack and without it (with the orginally files)! So what can I do to fix it?

Badaboom, if you are trying to post 1000 lines of text, you are most likely killing your server... about like trying to post 30-40 smilies in a message. Download files updated with bug fixes, "preferences" section removed from ubbmisc.cgi install instructions... Will be moving this back to "finished mods" this weekend unless there are more bugs found... ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com

i know this should be in ubb mod requests/suggestions but a cool thing i'd like to see added
in the afp window i'd like to see a little text box where you can type in the HEX colour of what you want the font to be (similar to the styles settings in the cp)
cause there are alot of colours there but some ppzl on my ubb have said that they wanted to see a HEX colour coder added
i know what code editing would need to be done but i dunno whether i'll just od it myself or you can addit (cause i'm sure many otehr people would liek to see this added?)
cause theres alot of colours that aren't there that some people like using like certain greys n stuff
anyway great hack all works fine now and no bugsfound so far except a ever continueing bug which makes unreg members use the admin icons (me) for the icq,pm,edit message etc
i think i'll have to make it to that pplz will have to register to use the forums?
i dont know whether it has something to do with the ubb code buttons or the pm hack i installed em both one day after the otehr <--(stupid thing to do) lol
cool hack anywayz l8rz infopop should add this to UBB6 so many ubb's have it installed anyway LOL
