Well, here's my next hack... what it does is allow you to search for users based on how many days it has been since their userfile was last modified (they either posted, or updated their profile). So, you can effectively hunt down and remove inactive user accounts from your board!

Let me know of any problems... the instructions can be found here:

Dr. Dollarz - it seems to work on mine (5.45c) very nicely... but I'd have to give you admin access to try it out. Not really a demoable hack.

Dave# - good suggestion. I'll see what I can do, it shouldn't be that difficult I wouldn't think!

Dave# - I've got this working now so you can e-mail inactive users or create a list. The instructions have been updated to include this. I haven't actually tested this with an actual mailing to inactive users, but the generated lists do work as expected... and they both use basically the same code, so I don't see why it shouldn't work.

Has anyone else actually installed this and got it to working properly? When I run it, and I ask for users inactive for 30 days, it shows one users name. I know there is more than one user inactive more than 30 days, which leads me to believe that it is showing users inactive for 30 days, not 30 days or more.
Is there a different number to put in? ">30" doesn't work...

Allen - it works fine for me... it does do a search for >= on the users. What it is comparing it to is the modification date (in days) of the user's file in the member directory. And basically, the only time a member's file is updated is if they change their profile or post a message.

If you recently copied all the member files to a new location or did something that would update the modification date on the files, that would explain your situation.

Thank you Dave for the fast reply.
Would a "rebuild member files" have the same effect?

Great idea.

Could someone do a workup for versions such as 5.39, since earlier versions don't have cpanel4?

Thanks!

While I haven't looked at the code yet, I'm guessing that it's probably very likely that if you do a "rebuild member files" that all the modify times would be changed. I'll see if there is some way around this.

Is there any way of making it so all of the usernames are check when you do a search for inactive users? or an easy way of making it delete all inactive users without haven't to click on every box?
