After I cleaned up today's active topics , I decided to spruce up who's online as well to make it look better and similar in style. The list of people is now sorted by forum and the descriptions are a little better IMHO.
Take a look here.

This is v2.1b of Who's Online that I've modified.

Be sure to make backups of all modified scripts first! Hopefully the instruction I made are okay. They assume you have who's online installed already! Let me know if there are any problems.

Directions
online.txt (Change to "online.cgi")

UPDATE: Added a small bug fix. Now v1.1:)

Looks like a good hack, what would be good is if you could make it so when they are reading a topic it shows in the WOL like Reading Topic in General Disucssion, instead of sorted out in forums.

GoTo:he probably make the borders invisable.

After looking at it again, the layout is just messy. Why is the "Who's Online" wording in the UserName column??? And in the Location, it just says Browsing, but browsing "where"???

Actually looks real messy, It would be better if it had where they were browsing and which topic they were reading instead of in Forum categories. Also GoTo I think he means browsing as in bowsing the forum under the forum header. It's confusing.

Lord Dexter,

I've left out the individual topics SSI to save on server load.

GoTorankusuKu,

The layout matches the UBB. If you go to the main page here for example, you'll see "Forum" at the top but the categories as well as the forums are below it. As far as "Location" goes, if it just says "Browsing", that means they are at the main forumdisplay page browsing whatever forum their row happens to be under. It would be redundant to list the forum again there when it's already sorted by forums.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Some of those issues can be modified easily like if you want a border on the table or if you want change the column names.

Ok, With this hack does it say what topic you are browsing under the forum name.

eg.Browsing "Title of Thread".

??

You can if you want it to. I don't have that part installed in my script. You have to use an SSI statement.

Find in ubb_library2.pl:
Code
code:

ADD AFTER that this:
Code
code:

I think that should do it!

Ok, dumb question here probably (because my online is not tracking the threads it seems) is there a difference between the relative path, or the absolute path? Are they one and the same?

Relative path and absolute path are different.

Absolute: www.mysite.com/ubb/000001.html

Relative: /ubb/000001.html

Do I have to replace the "reletive/path/to/cgi with my absolute path to my CGI?

Well...thats kinda confused me now, heres my general settings -

Absolute Path for your UBB CGI DIRECTORY - /site/mysite/public/cgi-bin

No sign of a URL there.....confused

Lord dexter - thats just an exanmple, so you would alter the "reletive/path/to/"....

My bad. You can't pass a query string in exec statements. Try this instead:

The relative path should start from your main directory. For most it will be "/cgi-bin/online.cgi....."

Let me know if this works!

Is there any way to make it say what thread someone is browsing/reading if you don't have SSI enabled??

Javascript possibly, but I'm not familiar enough with it to try to come up with a solution using it.
