Since my site is completely based on php/mysql i wonder, if there's a possibility to automatically convert the ubb-users into a mysql-database (each time if a user changes his info/password or if a new user registers)
I should be able to write the conversion-script, but in which ubb-scripts do i have to execute it ?
Thanks for answering! Gizmotic

A user database mySQL conversion would be ok, but a total mySQL (which some of us were plotting) would be a major undertaking. Unless you want to link your member info so that a PHP script or something has easy access to it, I wouldn't have thought just converting the member databases was worth it..
Watch this space for developments.

I would be in for a total mysql conversion but such a mod would be hard work since we would have to rewrite most of the script. It would probably be easier to start a new bb from scratches !! (But I know we all want UBB so ... )
Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?

Actually, converting UBB6 to use a RDMBS for storing members/posts/search information could be much easier now.
This is going to be one of my projects, complete with a module set and tutorial. I'm planning to cover PostgreSQL and MySQL.

Charles do you ever sleep ? On most threads that I check I always see you answering : "It's one of my projects, you should see it in a month time etc ..." You never stop do you ?

Actually, I stopped for nearly six months prior to UBB6... mostly lack of time.

If you really really want everything in PHP/MySQL then I'd recommend using vBulletin or phpBB... then there's no hacking needed, its already done for you
