I posted this over at IP as a feature suggestion, but maybe it's more of a cool hack then a feature. Anyway, here it is:

Empty cache on a schedule. Have it setable through the CP. Have the ability to empty once a week, once a month, or more often if ness/possible.

Just an idea. laugh

ok, sorry about that.

If your host is a unix host, they might have a little service called "Crontab" running on their servers. Crontab is a schedualing service for Unix that lets you run CGI scripts or anything else at a specified time and interval. Do you have this function available?

yes, but it would be easier to run it differently. Alot of people dont have crontab.

ahhh. Thanks for the info!

Well, my (ISP's) server is UNIX so I may have that available to me. I'll have to check. I still think is should be a feature or at the least a cool hack. cool

One question: WHY would you want to clear the cache every so often?

Another solution is to run a portless daemon in perl that deletes the cache files at regualr intervals, but your system setup might complicate things. At least you wouldn't have to go mucking about with root-level acces for chrontab tho..

I think some users with limited web space may find this feature handy. Since there is no way to limit the cache size this would keep it from getting too big too fast.

Just an idea... maybe it's not that great of one. wink
