When the attachment hacks comes out for 6.0 I have a suggestion.
How about instead of creating an icon which is inserted within the post, the attachment hack is converted into just a basic file upload hack.
For example, members are given a certain amount of space to upload their files, then later on they can view all their uploaded files through their profile where they may delete or upload more files.
Then in the posting screen, there can be a link which allows members to insert a file or url which they have uploaded into their post.
I think this would make it easier for users to re-insert certain images or files they have already uploaded, and it would make the whole file uploading system more advanced. Kind of similar to free webspace.
What do you all think?

A good idea, but some of the bigger UBBs out there (H-realms et al) are already in trouble for too much bandwidth useage... and I don't even want to go into the legalities of users swapping MP3s on your board...

well... it would be exactly the same as the attachment hack, where you would be able to limit uploading to certain types of files and set restrictions on file sizes and total space, esentially there shouldn't be a HUGE difference in the bandwidth usage if the alloted upload space were the same as in the attachment hack, no?

i need the hack too. My English is not so good but i want Upload Files und not the UBB Code Buttons Hack to work Upload Zip Files (Savegames & Racgames) in my Forum.... please help i need it yesterdey
