I don't know if this is possible, but I would like to have a way to display a filtered memberlist in UBB.

For example, lets say I had an option in the user profile screen that asked, "what is your favorite color?" There could a radio button for say, blue, green, yellow, and red.

Basically, I want a way to be able to filter the memberlist so that it ONLY shows those users with blue as their favorite color. Or perhaps on a seperate memberlist, show people with red as their favorite color.

I would like the ability to have a number of memberlists that are pulled from the main list, and then filtered displayed according to the preference that I have selected to display.

Like I said, I don't know if this is possible, but if so, I think this would be a great hack.

You could always just use the search feature in the Memberlist add-on to act as a filtering engine. Memberlist v3.0 will actually make it possible to add search fields via the control panel (provided you have the profile field already installed, of course, but I'm going to make another hack for adding and removing extra fields via a CP as well), so you could set up a profile field for "favorite color" and then add it as a searchable field to Memberlist. To find all the users with "blue" as their favorite color, you'd just have to do a search for "blue" on that field.
