I want a hack that works something like the private forum hack (written by Pheonix Landing) in Series 5 where there is a 2nd ultimatebb.cgi that display all the private forums from the main ultimatebb.cgi.

What i wanted is to be able to specify which category of forums to display in the main ultimatebb.cgi & what category of forums to display in the 2nd ultimatebb.cgi or possibly the third as well.

You do realise you can specify to display just one category already, right?

https://www.ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?&category=2 Displays only category number two here. If you want to have one for private boards, change your links so members only access the first category (non-private boards) and provide a link to the 2nd category for private ones.


I think Phoenix Landing had stuff that stopped him spending so much time online.

Thanks for replying I definately know that we can specify the URL just to contain 1 category. But what i actually wanted is a bit different. An example would be 2 category on ultimatebb.cgi and another 2 category on the 2nd ultimatebb.cgi. This means that i could create like 1 category & have 10 forums inside but it is not shown on the main ultimatebb.cgi Pheonix Landing actually said this in the 5 series hack.

The way i have written this hack is VERY SIMPLE. It works simply by creating a new Category for Private Boards. After you do this, there is a few small edits to Ultimate.cgi to filter out any board in the "Private Boards" category from showing up when displaying the main page. The second page is a duplicate of Ultimate.cgi, edited so that ONLY forums in the "Private Boards" category are displayed, then the duplicate is renamed "PrivateBoards.cgi".

If only one of the programmer here would convert it to UBB 6

Another closer to us example would be in UBBDEV forum.

I want to make UBB V5.x Series not shown on ultimatebb.cgi. So i turned off both V5 UBB Modifications & V5 Modification Question forum. Now it is not shown. But when i provide a link to
https://www.ubbdev.com/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?category=8

which is the category URL, both the forums will not be shown as well because it is turned off.

So my wish for this hack is to be able to specify in the CP which category to be displayed in the ultimatebb.cgi & any other ultimatebb.cgi that we have created.

ultimatebb.cgi >>> Category to be displayed 1 , 2 , 3

UBB5series.cgi >>> Category to be displayed 4 , 5 , 6

privateboard.cgi >>> Category to be displayed 7 , 8 , 9

The CP entry should looks something like the moderator settings CP.

I used to use this on UBB5.x too - twas a great hack...
