I am working on modifying the Private Messages 3.8 version to perform the following:

- Mass Private Messaging (send pm to every user)
- Minor Vocabulary, Text Modifications
- Save Private Message To Harddrive (.txt file)
- Print Private Message
- Have Personal Address Book

Would anyone be interested in something like this? I won't know if I should continue until someone gives me some feedback as to what they want to see in the updated version or what they dont care to see. laugh

Why not use the PM system in UBB6 instead of carrying over the old one?

If you want to make something, the one thing everyone's clamoring for is an importer to convert old PM messages into the new format.

Yes I would like to see it. A cool idea.

From the discription, this looks more like a big addon of features than a different PM system.

Release it! laugh

It is for UBB6, and I am sure it wouldn't be too difficult to make that feature borg wanted. I will get right on the development of this script. Thanks laugh

Good luck with this, Modder.

Actually that is possible despite caching. However I'm not sure how reliably it will work, and it will increase server load..

The idea is to add an extra CGI invocation that returns some Javascript. This script sets a variable to the number of new private messages, and then the standard login message Javascript can display a message about the new PMs. Alternatively you could have the script return an image (just the way the most web counters work).

It's just a workaround though..

Is it possible to make it so we can actually send PM's to people without having to go to one of their posts or their profile to send a PM to them?

Thats just one real ass that I'd have thought infopop would have made possible!

Thanks.. sounds great!
