Talk about looking for trouble...

Please understand this is NOT why I am posting this.

I'm brand new here, well nearly, I did hang out a bit when I was setting up my UBB a while ago. But, I just had to talk about this with someone and while I did ask one the mightiest amongst your regulars, (mightiest=my word) I didn't get a really clear answer to the following question;
Remember... PLEASE NO FLAMES. Thank you.

vBulletin 2.0.0 beta 2. There seems to be a bunch of nice features that has really made it very attractive. Will UBB remain the best option out there?

For a nice example see:
Brighthand.com .

-subscribe to any thread/all threads
-subscribe thread = 1 email notification (only) until you read thread
-view/edit all subscribed threads (easily)
-view new posts since last visit
-anchoring from email notification
-anchoring to your new post
-link direct to thread page, last page
-printable version
-Instant Polls
-Avitars
-choose posts per page
-member time off set
-custom user text (member status)

Please, use this topic for a healthy discussion and don't shoot the messenger.

Lastly, if this was just the wrong thing to post here, let me know and I'll happily delete it. (By the way I searched here for VB and found nothing.)

Regards,
Rand

Well I reaaallyyy liked the instant polls, subscribing threads, category descriptions, and PM system.

I loved ubb, and thought it was the best, but VB has sooo many interesting features. Whill ubb has their hack creators doing things weve already done, like avatars.

Infopop should start supporting hacking. Alot more people will get involved.

one thing though... I think vbb is plain ugly compared to ubb's refined layout and style.

of course it would be great if infopop started to build in these great features. smile

I've installed both for clients, ubb and vbb, I personally prefer hacking ubb becuase I have more control over the workings than vbb is, but for clients that don't want to pay $70 an hour for me to hack a ubb, they love vbb....

But still more servers support cgi over php and mysql....

How is this related to modifying the code in the UBB?

Anyone?
