How about having a subscription option for forums to be able to get an email everytime a new message is posted in the subscribed forum (kind of like a mailing list)?

I know that for some boards this might be too much as their bandwidth is already almost saturated due to the traffic on their board, but on small boards like mine it might actually turn out to be quite a useful feature

Shouldn't be too hard to do, I just have no idea how to do it heh

All one would really have to do is make a script that creates a list of members who have subscribed to the forum and instead of just sending an email notification to the moderators (if this option is turned on) it would also send one to those on the list.

Anyone feel up to it?

if you had a forum that had a lot of hits that would slow down the server wouldn't it with having to sent out a new e-mail each time someone posted, now i might could see one that sent out something like once a day or every (days set by admin/mod)

Sounds more resonable
But then again, there could be an option on CP to customize it. On a very small board, it really wouldn't make a difference if it sent it once a day or everytime someone posts a message.
