I know this is another hack that just won't get done, despite how badly I feel it's needed.
The cookie routines should be re-written so they don't use Javascript and are set natively in CGI instead.
I'd like this to work for 5.47e as well, of course, which has even less of a chance to get done. The less Javascript we use in our forums the better and more reliably they behave since anyone using Nutscrape encounters problems now and then.
Ah well, it's a nice thought. Maybe someone will optimize the search routines. That'd be just as swell.

Why, exactly? You can't retreive AND send cookies on the same HTTP header, it's soo much easier to do in Javascript, and less server processing load too!

I'm just not a Java fan because I've found it's not entirely reliable. That's okay though, on second thought there are far better ways I'd rather people spend their time.
That's why I figured it'd never get written.
