From the dark days when I used Microshaft's pitiful excuse for a graphics application, there was something called Bending text, which could make the text wrap to a curved baseline. You could make the text go around a semicircle, or a full circle, rather than just on a straight line.

Well, I'm wanting to do this same thing in Photoshop. But I can't seem to find any effect like PhotoDraw2k's Bend Text, in Photoshop. I know in Corel PhotoPaint, it was called Align to Baseline, but I can't find that in PS either. Is that effect included in Photoshop? How do I go about finding it? Or is there a plugin I need to get, possibly?

Thanks in advance for any help! [Linked Image]

Here is why you can't find it. I'm going to give you a long explanation so bear with me.

There are TWO kinds of graphics programs, "Raster," and "Vector."

A raster program, such as adobe photoshop, does all graphics manipulations using pixels.

A vector based program, such as adobe illustrator, does all graphics manipulations using math equations and coordinates.

For examply, say you had a 10x10inch image marked off with one inch spaced grids, and say you want to draw a line from the lower left corner to the upper right.

In a "Vector" based program, it actually draws a line from one point to the next, the same way we would with a ruler.

In a "Raster" based program, it fills in all pixels within a certain width from point (0,10) to (10, 0)

Thus, using a raster based program like photoshop, it can not make the judgement of following a curve. The curve is strictly a bunch of pixels shaded that way. In a vector based program, the curve actually exists as a guideline to the text to float on. Basically, get a copy of Illustrator, then import your text into photoshop.

I hope you understand this post, it is much easy to explain with visual aid.

I believe you meant to say that Adobe Illustrator is a vector program.

I would suggest making a document in Adobe Illustrator set at the same size and resolution as you need and make your text effects there then load it into photoshop.

Recently got Adobe 6 for testing and you can very esily do in that imm not so sure on the old version but on the new version its as simple as choosing the shape and typing text then the program does it for you ... If you have Macromedia Fireworks you can draw a shape and then FIT TEXT TO PATH the sam sorta way you do it with corel draw

hey buddy, try this
mess around with the transform option. This might work, otherwise I will test some other things and tell you if they work. The only shape you wanted was a circle?

The three things IMVHO, that are needed in graphic design are this:

1) Adobe Photoshop with Fonts
2) Adobe Illustrator
3) Corel Draw 9 (or 7)

Photodraw is difficult IMO.
