Using the wordlets, you can completely modify a public_template through the Control Panel. Say you have public_forum_summary. In it you would copy the text on to a backup file. Then you put a $vars_page_forumsummary. And the edit your vars wordlet and add that variable . Then go though the cp and all the text... It worked for me. It might sound confusing ....
