Hi all,

We are using 6.04f, wanting upgrade, but finances and time do not currently permit. Plus we have a multitude of hacks installed and cannot conceive of re-installing them all right now.

At any rate, we are having problems with moderators moving mis-categorized topics from their forum to another, and then wanting to eventually archive the topic. Problem is, 6.04 only allows one move per topic... is there a hack or a simple way to circumvent this short of upgrading to 6.2 as Infopop has recommended?

Thanks!

Chris

I don't think so... just a way to be able to move a topic more than once.

You should be able to move a topic more than once...

Hi guys,

Apparently in 6.04f you can only move once...

Hmm...Strange problem. I don't think I've ever had to move a topic twice though. Is it fixed in 6.1 onwards?

Well, I am not sure, but I assume so since Infopop recommended I upgrade to 6.2.

It is a relatively rare problem, however, with our community, it crops up enough to cause grief to the mods.

It is a financial issue right now, plus the MULTITUDE of hacks/mods on our boards... would take me a LONG time to re-install all of them.

Well, our one-year subscription to the members only area has expired, so I cannot download the latest upgrade until we get that going again.

At any rate, after some testing, I just found out that if we move a topic and delete it from the original location there is no problem. You can do that all day long. It is when it needs to be COPIED from one forum to another that the problem arises... now that I see this, it makes perfect sense. Keeps mods from proliferating topics across the boards.

Thanks for the help guys!

What does it say when you try to move the topic the 2nd time? Any errors?

The error is something like "Cannot move topic. This topic has already been moved once."

Hmm, Well your right about it letting you only movie a topic once.

Anyway, why do you need to move a topic twice? If it's in the wrong forum just put it in the right forum and there should be no need, I think.

Ahhh... but what if a topic of importance is posted to the wrong forum. You move it to the correct forum. Then 6 months later you wish to archive it, so you want to move it to the archive forum... See? smile

Hmm, Yes.
Well I don't think I can help anymore, I'd say ask one of the Infopoppers since they made the change in 6.1 they may be able to give you the code understanding your financial problem. It's your best bet I think.

Well, given that the copy/move function is where the problem lies, I think we can work around that. When we need to move a thread it is a true move, not a copy, and that works as expected.

Thanks for the input!
