I am a DHTML developer. Needless to say, I love CSS. One of the things that I do not like about the UBB is unfriendly way it presents the information. In other words, I do not like the style area. I prefer to have a set of class names and id's and assign my own colors through CSS. Is there something out that has enabled this?

This will change the whole style feature, btw, I think CSS should relace the html font tags, like font face.

I am not much of a perl programmer (I tried to get into it but started into PHP instead).
The only thing that I would know to do is to edit every reference, which would not be a walk in the park.
I realize that the style feature would pretty much be destroyed, but CSS is a much better way of handling the colors, font, etc... Maybe the style feature could just have the pics and stuff to change.

Could be done either way... a manual edit of a css file, or adding it to the control panel.

I'd like to undertake something like this, but I just don't have enough time to get anything done.

I have some time, but no patience. I think I'll head over and find the tutorials on the code. At least that way I'll know what I'm dealing with.

95% of the work will be in the templates Fanon, which are very similar to plain html. We can begin as soon as 6.1.0 final is released and the templates are done. We'll use the xhtml templates posted in the beta section.

Allen, if you need help with this once you start, let me know. I'd be glad to help convert templates or provide ideas and whatever. ---Skorpion

When you say templates, what exactly do you mean?

The .pl files in the (non-cgi)ubb/Templates folder.
I'm not really back. I went away again.
