Would it be possible to have a "UBB" instant message (not ICQ or anything external) that would allow a user to "page" another user (either a single message or multiple messages).
background: I would like to use it as a way to get people into a chat.

Good idea! I saw a java instant-message in the chat mod from LK. Maybe it can be modified to use it in the ubb. Better is a html popup but if people are use it to fool around, it's terrible i guess.

I already have a chatroom.. I just need to let people know people are chatting (and ask people to chat) while they are visiting the boards...

i already subjested this, look for th e UBBIM topic, there was a hack for the ubb 5 seris called ubb im, its int he database, i think someone is trying to port it

I am a newbie here and this is my first post. I think this kind of hack would be Awesome! I would sure be interested in this kind of hack. I am just getting started with the UBB a couple of months ago and am learning how to use the hacks here. This sure is an awful lot of fun.

I agree, it would be really cool, sometimes in my board i would like to say something to an online user, PM works fine, but an instant msg (maybe with Java, opening another explorer to the other user when sent) would be cool. Sorry for my bad english

Hey Splitfyre, send me your addy to your forum and I will join ya..........  Instant messaging through the forum would be the wave of the future. I too find at times it would be cool to grab somebody in real time that is on my board. I have only had the board since sept and am lovin installing these hacks. Mark

Please check this: http://www.i-m-d.net/scripts/msg/ It's great and freeware. It can be implemented in the buttonline above the teksteditor (profile-pm-edit-home-quote), but it needs some html/xhtml to do that. This script can be modified to communicate with members on the forum. It can be displayed as a java popup window, there could be a wav. in it to let members know that there is an IM. And maybe a block cookie code can make this work hand in hand with the "who's online" notition.

Perhaps a quicker and more simple solution would be to have a page feature such as a Javascript Alert box with your message.
