It uses UBB smilies, ubbcode, member database. Registered uses have their nicks, unregistered - "". (it's used in an iframe or javascript, not in the UBB)

So.. what do you think? any idea for a change?

That's what I said - that it's thru another page, not UBB. However, you can't use SSI - you'll have to use IFrame or JavaScript (javascript would make it look just like if it was SSI)

[EDIT: Dang, you edit your messages too quickly. I guess most people would use JS, cause (1) It looks like it's integrated into the page and (2) You've got to have JS enabled to use UBB anyway... Though an IFrame does actually make it look like a ShoutBox... Uhh, never mind me, I'm just spilling my thoughts. ]

What you did is reminisent of what we used to call a graffiti wall back in the old BBS days. It is interesting how all the old stuff seems to re-emurge

Brett, ultbb?ubb=x makes it much slower - it's good only if you have to make it really integrated inside the UBB - with all variables, files, etc... Also if you use SSI/IFrame/JavaScript include, you shouldn't use ?ubb=x because if the board is off it shows you the "board is closed" message; it updates cookies (like new posts/old posts); it's much slower.

I suggest doing something like the vB Version, put the last shout on the main page. (Like a cat box)

I don't know what's the "vB version", so I don't know where can it be in the front page But anyhow, you can just use the javascript in header/footer

It's not ready yet (for example I updated it 5 minutes ago) yet it's probably gonna be released soon. We might also add it to UBB.portal as it's a standalone (doesn't touch any UBB files).

BTW, I give beta versions to whomever wants them, but beware, the versions are buggy and incomplete...

It uses just what you see. for example, every time someone visits ubbdev main page, it takes ~18kb. not a lot
