even i prefer having a conversation in german because english is not my mother toungue i'll try to describe my idea for a new mod/hack i've never seen before. i really would love to get comments and feedback from you even in case you think that there's no need for hacks like that:
due the fact that most of our boards are related to very special interests most users have to deal with technical terms and foreign words.
so, my idea of a 'LogicLink'-Feature is based on an dictionary/lexikon-like thing:
when posting a new message the author can choose to turn that feature on/off: in case it has been switched on technical terms mentioned in that posting even in that thread are associated with a lil' grafical link which leads to an explanation of that term. so, just for an example, a hidden forum could be installed which has the function of some sort of lexikon/dictionary where users are able to post technical terms as well the explanation. this assocations mentioned before just link to these threads or show the technical details of a term in a popup oder dhtml-popup-layer.
because our users handle with loads of technicals terms of electronic music newbies and new users often do not know the meaning of these terms i think this 'logicLink'-addon working like the 'keyword-censor'-option would be a very interesting addOn for every bbs. so words aren't censored, they're asociated with a link with a detailled explanation, it's like a opposite of the keyword-censor-option.
i think features like:
* turning this feature on/off for every board in the cp,
* showing these links just ONCE per term per thread or at every mentioned term,
* ability that authors can choose to turn it on/off when posting,
* choosing if users or just mods/admins can add and modify the lexikon/dictionary
* choosing the look and feel of that links (css and/or with a customizable grafic)
would be a nice suggestion...
