is there a quick mod to kill the invisible mode option for users but still keep it in place for admins?

Do you believe in love at first sight,

Actually that's a good idea. The admin can always set it manually in CP or the members' file so I would just take it out of the Registration and Edit Profile .pl pages.

In fact I think you can go inside ubb_registration.cgi and ubb_profile.cgi and do an "if" and "elsif" with ($user_profile[8] eq 'Administrator') which will hide the code from any user other than the Admins.
