Fellas,
This is a great place for rookie BB owners like myself. I'm in awe of all the BB knowledge here! I'm looking for a screening box mod to be programmed into my board registration page. My BB has some sensitive material and I want to screen people better. I need a box at the top of my registration page large enough for 3 rows of information. I'm requesting potential users to input their name, location (City is fine) and a contact phone number.

Currently, my method is to go into my word perfect, copy my statement, then go back in the reg. queue, click member management, locate the guy, then email him thru the CP.

My spiel is.....

Dear Sir:

For security reasons and bulletin board abuse prevention, we require your full name, location and contact phone number for verification purposes.

For anyone who takes this on, perhaps have it so the 3 additional fields (only browsable by admin's) inputs the data into the user notes field...

I think it's pretty simple, just in public_display_profile.pl don't show the custom fields and if you don't want your member to edit them after registration is complete, do the same for public_edit_profile.pl.

Ray66 I require the same detailed contact info on my site for verification purposes, and no mod necessary... I pulled it all together in the control panel by combining settings for custom fields plus I changed an existing field label or two under wordlets for standard stuff I didnt need.

Differance is, he doesn't want the information public to his members, I'm contemplating just ripping out the roots for the custom fields in the profile viewing of custom fields ...

This ha been done. I decided he didn't need to use custom fields for anything else and have the fields he needs to use for this all. I just removed the fields from public_display_profile.pl

Interesting... So it was not that difficult afterall. I thought this would be a programming mod.

Well, originally we were going to use random profile fields as i didn't wnat to go with the custom fields in case you wanted to use them for something, but I decided it'd be best finally.

I ended up nuking the view code so members info is private, I'll do some testing with new registrations though, prolly after theive been approved and all; but that's about a month or so away .
