I have a forum that contains more then 30,000 topic. My problem is some of my user go back to there topic that dates 3 month or later and add replay. This will bring there topic in the top of the forum.
Can some one do a hack that will leave the topic in its place if the date of the topic is more then a specified period. The these topic will come in top of the forum only if it is bumped by top_topic.
I know it is a hard job but it can be done.

Have you considered archiving those topics for reference? Then they would still be able to read them, and could include a link to the topic in the archives when starting a new inquiry?

There's a lot of things that make this tougher. Let's say we don't bump the topic. The person will just reply again, this time the last reply was only a couple minutes before, and it's right at the top again.
If you waited for the next version of UBB, it'd probably be easy to set up a cron to close all topics over 3 months since their last reply, and then you wouldn't have to worry about people bumping old threads.

quote: I have a forum that contains more then 30,000 topic Don't do that. Larger forums cause slow performance. You should move around 25,000 of those topics into a read-only archive. That kills two birds with one stone - you'll stop the trend of replies to old topics and massively increase performance.
