UBB.Developers Forums Community Development Promoting Your Community Forum Showcase Member Spotlight Contest - October, 2001

First of all, let me offer my sincere apologies for not getting this out sooner. Due to my busy shcedule and the last issue of the mag coming out a few days late, I simply forgot about this.

Therefore, we will be extending the deadline for entries (since it would normally have been *tomorrow*!). Please try REALLY hard to have all entries posted by September 22. If there are a couple on the 23rd, and we haven't started voting yet, I suppose I will accept those too. But that hinges on if we've started voting, so I don't guarantee any entries posted after the 22nd.

Here's the rules, for those who don't know:
- No 6.0 Beta or 5.X versions will be accepted.
- Any entrants who have removed or modified the copyright in any way will be immediately disqualified and reported to Infopop.
- Any warez copies of UBB, or any sites with forums discussing warez will be immediately disqualified and reported to Infopop and the BSA.
- Any sites who rip off the layouts of other sites will be disqualified.
- We reserve the right to disqualify any other site for any reason, whether it's stated here or not, with or without notification to the entrant.

Now, with all the negatory stuff out of the way, here's the good stuff:
- We rate sites based on originality, quality of hack integration, site integration, graphics & styles & aesthetics, and the quality of the member experience.
- First and second place winners will be announced in the October, 2001 issue of the U-Zine, which should be released on October 1. Winners will be contacted shortly prior to that to conduct the interview.
- The First place winner will be eligible for entry into the bi-annual "big" contest, where the best of the previous six winners will compete to win either a 1 year extension of their UBB license or a set of NICE Klipsch ProMedia 4.1 speakers.

Also I had a question..like lets say I close down a ubb and start a new one am I allowed to enter that one after I already had a different one entered that is closed/deleted? Not that I am going to go this, just wondering for future reference.

MEW: You are only allowed one entry per month at the time of the voting. But if your previous entry has been closed, then you can submit another one just fine, as long as you get it in by the time we vote. You just can't have two active boards entered at the same time.

Are you allowing 6.1 betas this month? I thought you didn't take those... Maybe I was mistaken though. Not like it applies to me, but I just thought I should point that out incase it was a rule.

6.1 betas are fine, afaik. Unless Allen says differently, I don't have any problems with them anyway. It's just 6.0 betas that we don't allow.

Like Allen said, this is the last month for eligibility for the final prize of either a 1-year extension on your license, or a set of Klipsch speakers. And MasterMind has some extra prizes for this month's winners as well, so thanks to him.
