Anyway, You notice from Who's Online/Recent Visitors that you're still getting a steady stream of people coming to your board.

But there's one problem, they're not posting anymore, they just seem to browse around a bit and then go for a few hours/days/whatever.

What do you (and/or your team) do to bring life back to your boards?

Entice them into "participating" not just posting. Give them a reason to feel that they belong to a community.

Put some topics up that are worth replying to. It's usually because there isn't anything good to post to.

Just my two cents...

But perhaps if there was a little more support when people have questions regarding mods/hacks... I have posted questions or asked for help and had to wait days for an answer or even acknowledgement... A couple of times, my questions have been ignored completely...

I know I get frustrated with that...

"Newbies" are probably very intimidated thinking that they will appear stupid... I felt that way... still do at times...

We are here to try to learn.... we are here because we are NOT experts... so we ask stupid questions and we can't always get a mod to work right the first time... have patience with us...

Sometimes just a simple... "I don't have time right now to help you but I see your post and I'll get back to you as soon as possible" ... would be so much better than days without any response at all...

So that's just a suggestion from me... FWIW... which I'm sure ain't much...

Erm... I just try and stir up some life in the forums, shake everything up a bit, even if they post to complain, they are still posting and it probably gets them to post more.

getting people to your boards is hard.

getting them to be active is even harder.

and, really, its up to you to 'force' them into the game

the best way to do it is to create interactive threads. threads that easily lend themselves to user involvement.

stuff like "whats your favorite ____"

yeah, its simple and overdone... but there's a reason why! cuz it works

Maybe some game threads too. Ones that are easy to reply to.
