Congrats again to ADWOFF, another fantastic example of a strong and vibrant community served up via the UBB™. For those of you who feel that you too have a rockin' forum, here is your chance to prove it...yes folks....CONTENT RULEZ!!!You have until Tuesday, July 23rd, 11:59pm UBBDevTime to get your entry in. Rules are pretty basic and are listed below. This contest focuses on the Content of your site. Basically, we want you to provide us with examples that you think best represent your forums. To enter into the contest, you must provide us with the following: - A brief description of what your forums is all about. It's purpose, the type of users you attract, and how long the community has been together.
- Links to four individual threads that you feel best exemplify your board, at least two of these threads must be at least 1 month old.
Entries must be submitted prior to Tuesday, July 23rd, 11:59pm UBBDev-time, after which time we'll lock up this thread and start judging. Each entry will be evaluted by UBBDev's crack team of Moderators and Administrators, who will vote on which site they feel best serves its audience. Note: that we will not be voting on which threads we like best, but the ones that we feel best represent the purpose of your forums and make a positive contribution to your community. Now for the fine print: - Eligible entries can be any legal full-release UBB™. This includes older version 5.x boards!!! If you have a pirated board...don't bother entering.
- The only eligible beta boards are version 6.3.x boards (note: we are no longer allowing 6.2x betas).
- Forum must have been established at least three months ago
- Any warez, porno or warez/porn related site, or sites with links, banners, pop-ups to any warez or pornographic sites need not apply. We may exclude any other site that we deem to be inappropriate or contains inappropriate content, or content deemed to be inappropriate...you get the point.
- Sites that illegally hide/remove/modify the Infopop copyright
- Links to threads which contain excessive profanity or vulgar language will be removed. If your site is best represented by "inmaturity" then this is probably not the contest for you.
Entries can also be disqualified for any other reason at our discretion, with or without notice to the entrant. The winner will have their site featured in the August U-Zine, will receive some primo free advertising with a link in our sidebar, will receive a nifty Custom Status indicating that you are the King/Queen of Content, a spiffy Certifigif to proudly display on your site and who knows what else. Not only that, but you'll receive the admiration of all who visit UBBDev. WOW! Who wouldn't want to enter Rules of this contest may be modified at any time if needed or if we just feel like yanking your chain. Good luck! -Tacks

I have little chance of winning this at all, but here goes. Our community is called IPHQ (Indigo Plateau HQ). It is a semi-active UBB that focuses, as the name suggests, on the old kids' favourite Pokémon. It usually attracts casual to fairly heavy Internet users between the ages of 12 and 18, however one of our Admins is 25. Bless him. We've been a community for just over a year and 2 months, although we did have an ezboard before we purchased a UBB license. Since the UBB opened, we've extended our community to a radio station, IRC network and a site (in progress ). And the threads: Pokeballs - Doing what we do best... Talking about Pokémon. The members in this thread really seemed to be getting into this Pokéball theory... Why is snorlax such a useful pokemon? - Another Pokémon thread, this time a discussion about a particular Pokémon. blasting is my toys - A snippet from our FanArt forum. We have a couple of talented people in our community... Poll: Smarterchild - One of our more light-hearted threads from the Polls, Clubs And Games forum, created by one of our Admins, who is notorious for his stupidly funny conversations with the AIM bot SmarterChild. Well, there you go... A small insight into the workings of our community.

Tacks, I dunno, but I always thought it was i mmaturity, not i nmaturity... Anyways, yeah, I didn't submit GamingSphere last month mainly because I forgot, but....Yeah. GamingSphere could be called a new UBB, but it's been on the internet in one way or another for...One year and a month exactly. Until June 18th (AnimeGamerz's first year birthday) it was AnimeGamerz, but then changed to GamingSphere. Enought about that though. GamingSphere is a place about gaming, made of people who at least know plenty about gaming, but we like to talk about elite randomness too. The four topics I'm supposed to have: The Say Exactly What\'s On Your Mind Thread --This topic could easily be deamed immature, but I feel that it's important to use this as an example though. It's fun, and we like it. It helps boost the activity, and makes discussions that wouldn't be there. GameCube News! (just a quick line on a few games) --We're not only about total randomness. This topic just gives us some GameCube news from one of GamingSphere's most hardcore gamer. Golden Sun -- buy or die? This is an ancient topic, but I feel like it shows another part of who we are. Game Boy Advance, unlimate handheld power? This is another old topic, must've been revived. This is simply a topic discussing the GameBoy Advance, Nintendo's latest handheld device. ~Jon

Site and Forum Purpose: 4x4Wire.com is the main site; 4x4Wire.com\'s TrailTalk Forums is our UBB. 4x4Wire and our UBB were born January 1, 2000. We were conceived as a wide-reaching 4WD website, catering to all vehicle types; all vehicles uses; all levels of drivers and mechanical experience; and for open, mature discussion of everything 4WD. We provide new content regularly in vehicle-specific sections (Jeep, Toyota, Mitsubishi, etc), general sections (Events and Trails), as well as offroad news, events, and issues. Basically, anyone with a 4WD is welcome to discuss anything about their 4WD. UBB accounts for 50% to 70% of our monthly pageviews, depending on time of year. Example Threads:A recent thread is a simply amazing example of the strength of our communities: Save Dave Chang\'s Amigo! A forum moderator is leaving for China, and his community wants to make the payments on his vehicle while he's gone so he doesn't have to sell it. Mitsubishi Gear Options thread : our Mitsu community collectively found a lower gear option and talked through the iterations. This was a major coup for Mitsubishi owners. We talk tech: ECT operation and impact on Toyotas . We have some fun: How much does your head weigh? Good luck to all contestants!

Forum DescriptionThe purpose for the whole site is to provide news, information and pictures for Nicole Kidman's past, present and future work. We attract many different types of users; one-off visitors referred from search engines through to regular users that visit several times a day. Our age range goes from about 9 up to 65 with the majority being between 12 and 18. The site has been running since October 2001 and started with UBB v6.05. I redesigned the site on 1st July and upgraded to v6.3.0. We currently have over 1,000 members, over 1,500 visitors per day and serve 50,000 pages per day of which about 13,000 come from the forums. The forums are a feature used by our regular members but forms the cornerstone for lots of member features on the site. The UBB membership information is shared across the site and used to control access to picture ratings, link ratings, signing up to email lists. Due to the mixture of ages and objectivity some of our threads have very interesting exchanges of ideas and opinions. Example Threads Mayor bans public drinking to avoid offence to Kidman - A news article that developed into a discussion about the rights and wrongs of altering their lives due to Hollywood moving into your village. I made some wallpapers for you... - Somebody designed some wallpapers that were added to the site, shows the support that people feel for the site and how comfortable they feel sharing their creativity. OMG... Look at this... - Started innocently enough as a Playboy Poland cover picture of Nicole but developed into a discussion about attitudes to sex and the pressure on kids at 14 etc. Some interesting ideas expressed from our young and old members. The Human Stain - First Chapter - Thread about an upcoming film, The Human Stain, some information from around the Net.
