Hmm...I haven't posted here for a while now. Ahh well. Anyway, I've got a chance to view so many cool boards over the year and appreciate how much effort and heart that goes into it. I don't know about you guys/gals, but it's inspiring. Well, I thought why not showcase my board too (before I change it again). Click Here Comments/Suggestions appeciated.

Wow. Nice selection of colours (they go well for a UBB with a war-games theme ) and a great consistant layout. Very nice use of Compact Headers/Footers, and also with gradients. Not too over-the-top, which is just to my liking. Good use of JavaScript with the menu at the top too. The only quarm I have with it (and it's a very, very small one, and actually is a matter of personal preference) is the layout of the topic page, where the PDN is on the right; not too keen on that. But your visitors obviously like it like that, because you have over 900 of them. Rating: 9/10. I can tell a lot of effort has been put into the design and content of that board. Congrats. (Psst... You might wanna check out the Member Spotlight Contest )

Thanks for your generous words CTM. Hahaa...I even got a rating. Yeah, I think that the profile at the right is either a hit or miss. I figured why not go against the standard and so I did the Kriss Kross theme. It's funny, I've never used the Compact Headers/Footers hack but I understand it does the same thing I've been doing all along. I've thought about the Spotlight Contest and have entered once before. Although that time my board was way too busy. I would enter this time execpt for the fact that the new site isn't completed (and so the old site is displayed instead). If I can enter just the board then...

I'm pretty sure you can just enter the UBB on its own, PT... As long as you have a couple of pages on your main site you should be fine, it's the site integration that counts

Ohh. Well I'm not sure if you would want your forums to be exactly the same. Being different is a good thing. Anymore feedbacks? Support?

heya PT!!
excellent design. there are a few parts i dont like or disagree with, but... i love the fact that you at least attempted to majorly customize the UBB, and make it work for you.
the one thing i'd nit pick the most tho would be the graphic image BG, behind the posts. i dont mind that its there (cool effect!) but you should dim it or blur it or ghost it so that the text is easier to read (some people i saw used green text, which is impossible to read over the bg image).
regardless, great job on it!!!

Thks for your feedback drkknght! I agree with you that the (postbody) background image does interefere with certain colors that the users chose (provided by the Font Color Hack). The default font color setting is #FFFFFF. Unfortunately there will be some members that will choose a color that will mix in with the background; when I had a black background some users chose #000000 (black) as their font color. The only way around it is to create a hack that will only allow certain colors or not to have the color hack at all...You know however, that wouldn't be a bad option. Well the upside is that I used to allow users to have a custom background image along with the custom font color.

With Opera 6.05 and Phoenix 0.4 the Text is not displayed correct. Ths font is to big. With IE 5.5 is the Text displayed with the correct size.

Good point joking-down. Basically I coded the current UBB strictly for IE 5.5+. I believe in Opera and Netscape there will be differences with the display but because I did most of the hard coding in the inner-tables (+ StyleSheet) I will just wait for my next upgrade to change it. I'm not familiar with Phoenix. Knowing that the display of the board will look different cross browsers I added: For Best Results: IE 6 (no Netscape please) 1024x768 or above Java enabled It was a lot easier than re-editing all of the UBB pages.

Phoenix will most likely have the same results as NS and Mozilla, since they all use Gecko.
