In forums.cgi, there is one line for each forum. Why, for example, can I not delete the last 8 lines, leaving me with just one forum? leaving the Forum1, Forum2, etc folders in the NonCGI folder intact, of course?

Do not attempt this unless you know what your doing. If you think "Well, i know what i'm doing. I'm deleting forums" then dont do this. Because there is more to it.
Me, i have deleted forums. After screwing up them before.

OK, so I won't try it ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/wink.gif) But seriously, what code in UBB requires that those 9 lines all be there?

A new installation? If its new, i suppose it wouldn't be harmful if nothing has been done to the forums/code yet..
Mark?

Yes it would be harmful. UBB creates 9 Forums for a reason. The way that the code is set up (going back to the days when 9 forums was the limit that you could have on a board) it is required that those 9 folders be there.
It's been a long time since ive looked so I can't provide specifics as to what and where. Perhaps Charles or Navaho could..

There are certain checks scatterred throughout the UBB that look for various forums. For instance cpanel.cgi looks for Forum7 and ubbcode.html amoung other files when it is loaded as a way to tell if the board has been setup for not.
You didn't think that setup screen the first time you installed your UBB (versions 5.45 and up) was done with Net::ESP, did you?
Ted has posted on the Scriptkeeper boards that you will be able to delete forums in UBB6.
