That's right. My friend and fellow coleague (web design guru) sent me a link and I stumbled upon this site. I must say, it has a nice design (simple, yet effective) and the forums, I'm sure, will be of great help to UBB "developers."
I'd like to introduce myself. I'm a High School student whose hobbies include Programming, playing/enjoying music, reading, playing football and watching hockey on the television (though I rarely watch television anyway).
About 4 months ago, a friend (yes, the same as the aforementioned one) and I decided to round up a few members of our "group" to start a web site. We had already been running a small, underground newspaper at our school which showcases the irrelevant writings of some of the most briliant teenage writers I've ever met (and, yes, we are also on the official school newspaper staff ). So, after a long 3 hour meeting at 4 a.m. in the middle of a LAN party, we decided to register the domain under the same name as the newspaper. Thus our site was born.
One saturday evening, after being restricted from attending our weekly "Poker Night", I sat at home browsing sites, etc. I came accross the "Freeware" UBB (yes, I was familiar with UBB...I've been a regular ArsTechnica, 2Cpu.com and PDABuzz.com poster). The license gave me permission to "edit/modify" it for my own purposes, so I thought I'd give it a try.
It was one of the best decisions I ever made for the web site. I haven't edited since as per the fact that we are purchasing full, but it's still sailing smooth and we've had a small fundraiser at our school where we have collected over $120 to purchase the full version (some people donated $20). My friend is gonna pay the rest for now, so we can make use of the full UBB as soon as possible.
Feel free to browse the site. The writings are great. We haven't had a new issue in awhile, due to the holidays and our last redesign requiring new, more advanced story submission scripts (which, sigh, I have to write with my own lazy holiday time ).
Anyway, I hope to be a valuable asset to these forums, hope to not only get help, but offer my help in anyway I can.
Cheers.
