Having seen work on sites i did for a couple of bands here in the UK a small record label has asked me if i would be willing to do their site for them. Previously i did the work for cd's and t-shirts as im a fan of the bands in question but this is looking to be a major undertaking and i think its only fair i make some profit on this one. I dont want to ask for too much as their isnt a great deal of cash available but i would like to know what people think is a reasonable amount to charge for services rendered in situations like this (in uk money). bearing in mind my lack of experience and all. ------------------ "Oh bugger, now what the hell have I done wrong?"

People usually charge over $100 (in US currency) for web designing. ------------------

What, an hour or in total? Going UK rates are £20-£100 per hour for design, and a little more for dev and project managegment. Of course, depends how much money they have and how much they're willing to pay. It is of course totally up to you, but if you start off charging low, every client will expect the same. Just a thought ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/smile.gif) ------------------ http://www.iamcal.com

and, depending on the mental stability of your client, if you do **** work and charge too much you just might find yourself bruised and bloody.
its happened.

I? Do bad work? NEVER!! Besides the client lives about 70 miles away so i dont have to worry about violence!! ![[Linked Image]](https://ubbdev.com/ubb/smilies/biggrin.gif) Seriously though, this would be an excellent addition to my portfolio but i just have to find a way of getting my share out of it without the whole idea being dropped and me left with nothing...... ------------------ "Oh bugger, now what the hell have I done wrong?"

cal and David are right... the main thing is to present yourself as a professional, doing professional work. Give a solid bid that you can live with, and don't back down to less, you will definitely regret it. When people "nickle and dime" you, they are treating you like a flea market salesman, but still wanting professional work done. We had a very similar thread on this in this forum, search for it for links to common rates charged by different types of developers in different areas. It may open your eyes. ------------------ Allen - http://www.stand318.com
