I recorded somthing then I saved it and it was 560 KB and only 29 seconds long.
I also tried converting it to reduce size as I read from this other site and I heard a lot of crackling noises.
What's the proper way to do this...?

Convert it to MP3 unless you are using it on the web.

best converter i came across so far is musicmatch juke box, its my favorite music prog. It can rip/convert/mp3 player/MD support/mp3 one click burning and so much more. Check it out at www.musicmatch.com the mp3/cd/windows media player(embeded) is so far better than winamp in my opinion. I can watch music videos with awesome quality on that... I love it!!

If you need to save it as a WAV, use the ADPCM codec....
