Why are you banning people for all comments that put down UBB, or when someone says "ubb sucks, vBulletin rules!" the thread is close/deleted and the user is banned? (like my other account was banned...) Squage tried defending you when I talked to him about some 'deal' (or something like that) with Infopop, which if so would make since since mentioning another board over at Infopop gets you banned...

because such discussions would become a flame-war where everyone would lose in the end.

Comments like "ubb sucks, vBulletin rules!" aren't really appropriate on a bbs that's sole purpose is to support and develop the UBB, now are they?

They're not really appropriate anywhere other than a kindergarten playground really.. I would hope we're all adult enough to avoid silly flame wars like that, but I guess frequently it isn't the case..

Infantry DB, here is my question:

What good would it serve, if Allen DIDN'T close/delete/ban them? If someone simply says "UBB sucks, vB rules" or something similar, that already says something about the relative intelligence of that person. Obviously their mind is already made up. And no matter how much evidence we may offer to the contrary, that person will continue to remain adamant about how much one piece of software is better than another.

There have been several previous topics that actually discuss the differences. Really, all of the primary reasons to pick one script or the other have already been gone over. Those interested in really learning the differences can easily use the wonderful Search function and find them.

As for those who only want to state a blunt opinion, we could sit there for dozens of replies trying to intelligently and calmly explain our views on why our software of choice is better, only to be rebuked with "UBB sucks, vB rules" again and again. Or, we can remove the problem before it starts. In the end, it simply takes MUCH less effort to delete the offending post up front.
