Ok, so on my computer here at home, I use Outlook Express to handle all my mail.. However, it has a couple things I really really dislike, which are it's tendency to confuse itself with Outlook, which my boyfriend uses. For example, for some unfathomable reason, both programs share a contact list, which gets really annoying when the other person deletes yours by mistake..
So, I'm thinking about switching to something new.. I'd like it to be a very good email client, because despite it's flaws, OE is pretty decent.. I just want to be able, for example, to hit "reply" on a newsgroup post, and have it send through my email account, rather than Outlook (since outlook is the default email client on my system)..
I'm thinking therefore, if I switch to something that's not a mircrosoft product, I'll stop having these problems. What do you use, what do you recommend?

A very good E-mail client is Eudora. It's free if you don't mind looking at an ad. http://www.eudora.com/

Anything else to recommend it? There are a lot out there after all, and given that I receive probably 100 emails a day, I'm going to be looking at whatever I choose an awful lot..

If you only have one Pop3 account, pegasus is pretty good. I find it annoying in the way it handles multiple Pop3 accounts though.
Also, I believe Opera has built in email support now. I am not sure if it handles multiple accounts though.

If you are willing to pay for Eudora, there will be 0 adds. Eudora is so good, it's worth the money.

IMVHO, eudora is crap. really crap. OE is the only thing i can bear using for large amounts of mail. Enterage (sp?) on the Mac is excellent too. Just a thought

I do like outlook.. it's just those annoying little things that seem to suggest you can't use outlook and outlook express on the same computer, without it assuming that you're the same person

John, I think you misread.. I already have outlook, and outlook express.. they just intertwine too much if you use them on the same computer for different people.

A different approach Lucia: Could you use different Windows User Profiles for each PC user? That should solve the problem of your address book being shared. Maybe?

Yeah, but that's a lot of messing around.. I'd prefer just to find a new mail program, but I don't want to spend hours trying them out.. especially given that after reading user opinions at cnet, half of them said they had problems uninstalling the software.. My computer is cluttered enough as it is..

Eudora isn't a bad E-mail client. If you are willing to pay for office, then use Outlook 2000. Outlook 2000 is much better than Outlook Express.

Just setup outlook with two seperate .pst files and email accounts. if you have 2000 you can setup a rule that moves the emails into the right inbox automatically.

I hate outlook and any email clients from microsoft. I prefer text-based or older version of eudoura. I still use 1.x and I refuse to update that. a kid sent me a virus and my euduora decoded it
