I'm building my site higher then 800x600 resolution (which is common for most laptops and some pc's) everything on my site is no more then 600 pixels Wide. was just wondering how many of you people is running higher then 800x600. just so I get an idea of the amount. Or maybe you guys can give me some advise on web building I'm starting my 1st .com web page (not open yet) what is the best resolution to build at? Also what's resolution for ubb? I don't have it yet, I'm getting a job and then I'll buy it.

Let's see, I'll try and answer all those questions for you.

1. At home I run my 17" monitor at 1280x1024, and at work it's 1600x1024. (Cinema display)

2. I usually try to make my sites for all resolutions because I use tables. Lately, though, I've been trying out some CSS-P stuff and using layers for positioning. The minimum res. for these sites is 800x600.

3. UBB is a table. You can specify a percentage or x amount of pixels.

I run the same as Matt at home.

My school uses only 640x480 most of the time (I've got a friend in the tech dept so he changed the rez's on most the computers I use to 1024x768 for me :)), and yeah, some people unfortunately still use that rez.

I usually try to design my sites for 800x600 or above, because that is the new normal. Tables at percentages work well because they're easily scalable.

I like to use tables in my sites, but then again that is more because of it is the easiest way to display the content that I needed to display. It is a role-playin forum for an aol rp community called Rhy'Din. If you have aol and like rp, check it out.

At work I run 1280x1024 so I can see most of mt Excel spreadsheet. At home I run 1280x1024 because I can wink and so that the display is the same as at work. When I'm designing web site I usually design them for 800x600 minimum. That way most of the viewers get the look I set out for. I test all my work by changing my resolution. I also check my work with a 15" monitor I have at home.

About .com... A commerce site must be made for 800x600 at least. In my opinion.

My personal site is designed for 1024x768 but it does ok at 800x600.

hmmmm you guys been some help. I think I'll design my site for 800x600 and above for computers with 640x480 I'm sorry all i can do for these is go no more then 600 pixels wide. I'll mainly stick with my resolution of 1024x768 because with all these new monitors and upgrades this is meant to the standard in Resolution for pc's. If you guys care to add more web designs tips please do so. I have a book of html that I read but I like to hear things from real people you know tipsy

I currently use 1280*1024 and, I dislike it, even at this resolution things seem too big, I am a minimalist and I like to see small things, maybe this explains my deteriorating(sp?) eyesight, but, tough on me I suppose, anyways, forget all that, accoridng to thecounter.com I am one of the 3% of web-surfers who use 1280*1024 smile
